Smart move. Kid has clear upside... But the extra year will meaningfully benefit him... And he can afford to wait. He should have a fairly long NBA careers. Probably no all star games but long, above average career.

He's gonna be next top rebounder like Rodman/DJ/Love. In freshman year he took 25.2% defence rebounds 19.6% total rebounds. And he just 19.
That's against college competition though. Also, he has a wingspan of only 6'10.5 - for comparison, James Harden has a wingspan of 6'10.75. I wonder how that lack of length will translate against NBA PFs. He seems to have a ridiculously high effort level and that Zach Randolph knack for the ball, but the lack of length might detrimental to his rebounding translating to the NBA game.
Kevin Love has 6'11'' wingspan. In addition, if I heard right, Domantas would like to play as SF and works on his dribbling & range.
I'd say that's a bit of a pipe-dream. He doesn't seem to have the quickness to guard even the NCAA SFs.
But most nba stars were young and play with college competition too. To be comparable older stats all in freshman yr.: DJ 11.9 reb/40min Kevin Love 14.4 reb/40min A Drummond 10.6 reb/40min T. Duncan 12.7 reb/40min ----- D Sabonis 13.0 reb/40min
You have to look more in depth into why exactly certain players rebound well. In Sabonis' case, it's mostly the effort/motor. College players aren't as big and athletic as in NBA, so Sabonis' effort and rebounding skill is enough to get a ton of rebounds there. Other guys, like DJ or Duncan, not only had the skills, but the length (and even great athleticism in DJ's case) to help them rebound very well. Length/athleticism translates to NBA, where as motor simply might not be enough when Sabonis is facing guys like Anthony Davis or Drummond... An undersized guy like Tyler Hansbrough (who is probably a pretty decent comparison for Sabonis) also rebounded well in NCAA and his physicality/motor is probably just as good. But look at his career in NBA - he is by no stretch a great rebounder.

Haha, yeah. But that's the nature of college basketball. Guys like Simmons and Labisserie are facing much inferior competition as well.

Domas reminds me of a hybrid between Valanciunas/DMo, but is smaller than both of them. Can rebound as well as Valanciunas, also has that toughness and emotions. On a different note, has very polished post-moves and seems to have some potential to become a good passer. Mobility similar to DMo's. Good work ethic. Much improved FT shooter this year. Not a shot-blocker.
