THIS! I agree with some posters that Dwight should be getting more touches on average, unless by touches they mean post touches. Howard in the post is very TO-prone. If he is suddenly doubled he is not good at passing the ball back out. If he takes too many dribbles in the post he becomes indecisive when it comes to making his move. And, some nights his hook shot will be there other nights it won't. He is just not a reliable offensive option. Dwight getting the ball in the post should be the exception, a last resort kind of thing. Howard should however be getting more touches overall BUT, and many somehow fail to realise this, he needs to work harder for those touches. Set harder picks and roll harder! There is no reason he can't do that. I know a lot on here blame the guards, especially Harden, for not getting Dwight the ball. Well how come Harden can run the pnr beautifully with every other big on the team? How come Nash, who was a wizard at running the pnr had trouble running it with Dwight? Maybe, just maybe, Dwight is to blame for not getting enough touches.
He was referring to a game where Dwight was looked for on offense instead of getting his points through lobs.
Dwight is garbage. Can't consistantly create a shot for himself or his teammates. Gets just as many goaltends as blocks. And only good for point blank dunks. No real offense. Can't shoot from greater than 5ft from the basket. His shot is more of a chunk.
That being said, the Rockets as a team jack up too many 3's. Too many Brewer 3's for sure. Too many early in the shot clock, one pass or no pass jack ups for no apparent reason. I would rather see Harden, DMo or Beasly opperate in the midrange/mid post area at least once on every possession.
This thread, obviously, is dumb and full of poor observations. That said, if you can indirectly conclude that part of what the OP is saying is that this offense is stagnant and "broken"... well, that's hard to argue. Whether Dwight goes 7/8 or 1/8, and whether Harden goes 10-17 or 3-17, the offense is fundamentally flawed. Coaching, coaching, coaching, coaching, coaching.... that's what it comes down to. Real offense is here: https://streamable.com/oemk
Solution to DH problem 1. DH suddenly wakes up and demands ball, play decent post ups 1point/possession (impossible) 2. we get a point guard like Chris Paul to feed DH, like DJ doing in Clips(highly unlikely) 3. trade DH to get a cheaper big which gets you rebound and decent defense and patch up our other positions(best scenario right now)
because both are mutually exclusive? Heaven forbid Dwight got some lobs AND some post up opportunities... that's just crazy talk.... smh...
I can't believe people still don't get this. Per game numbers and raw totals are essentially the Stone Age. Harden is going to lead the league in total points scored this year. Therfore he is the best scorer in the league, right? Howard turns the ball over MORE than Harden on a per possession basis. Howard shoots such a high percentage precisely because we DONT force feed him the ball in the post. He is NOT an efficient post player. He feasts on easy shot attempts that most big men should convert at a very high clip. Problem is it's not that simple to just manufacture these easy shot attempts when you have a defense trying to stop you from getting them. If we could lob it to Dwight every single play of the game, we would. Sadly that's not how basketball works. And again people like yourself act as if this is the norm with Harden. That this years production level and how many wins it has led to is what we have gotten every single year with Harden. And we all know that's a load of bull****.
