http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=11293030 I think it's interesting that he has come out again and clarified this. I was dubious if he really was leaving Miami or if this whole time if he was just using the Rockets as leverage. Sounds like he really did almost come to Houston.
He has 2 championships . A banging wife . Living in Miami . & at last second Miami gives him max money ? I wouldn't leave that . So I'm not mad at him .
So can people stop saying "No one wants to play for Harden & Dwight!" and "No one wants to play for a GM that treats players like assets!" Bosh was going to play here.
He said he was "close"... that's only because Houston offered him a max deal while Miami was in limbo after LeBron left.. then Miami actually gave him an offer with even more money and he took it right away. If he was really going to leave Miami he would have done so.
So basically he was going to come to Houston before Miami put a ridiculous offer on the table, which is what everyone has already said...
I doubt it. I'm pretty sure he knew Miami would be desperate and get the eventual max payment from Riley. Miami was sure Lebron would resign and was not ready for rebuilding mode.
the interesting comment was that staying revitalized his interest in basketball. he's got his rings, coming to houston he would have been a 3rd wheel, and important piece, but not a cornerstone, no matter how well paid. he might even have been the 4th option behind a newly empowered, and overpaid, parsons. in miami, he's now the man, and a local hero, and making more money to boot. he's got his rings. makes sense to me he stayed.
