Who do you guys think is the biggest bust as far as bigs are concerned? I have some candidates........

[IMG] Yina Dare- He played just 110 games and 1,002 minutes with the Nets, averaging 2.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and dishing a grand total of four assists in FOUR years. Drafted 14th in 1994.

    Or

[IMG] He played six seasons before he was banned by the NBA for life

Or how about this guy? He was supposed to revolutionize the game !!! Any more suggestions?

Did the 76'ers give Bradley the #76? I only see the 7.. If he did have 76 than they must have really thought highly of this guy.

    I almost forgot:
    Pervis Ellison
    [IMG]

Benoit Benjamin (on the far right beside Ewing)

    Joe Smith

    Danny Ferry

Should I add Christian Laettner to the list?

Sam Bowie, no contest. Taken later in the same draft:
    Jordan, Perkins, Barkley, Thorpe, Stockton

IIRC, they gave him the number 76 because he was 7'6", not necessarily because they are the '76ers.

Just naming high lottery pick big men:

    Chris Mihm

    Bryant Reeves

    Sharone Wright

    Felton Spencer

    Stacey King

Armon Gilliam (actually put up some decent #s a few years; but not worth of a #2 pick)

    Chris Washburn

    William Bedford

Jon Konkak (only claim to fame was that he started the multi million dollar contract era)

Mel Turpin (what a waste of a #5 pick; made Thomas Hamilton look skinny)

Benoit Benjamin. He cashed his checks and did nothing on the court. He even admitted as much in an interview. Something to the effect of "why should I play hard and stay in shape? I'm still getting paid."

    Anyone Codell mentioned.

Any big white guy from Duke...

the blazers at the time had the talent to win a championship. they had a serviceable power forward in mychal thompson (who had to play center), plus two all-star guards... and the #2 pick in the draft. logic dictated that they draft someone that could fit into their offense and counter the centers of the day (like kareem.) bowie had the size and some of the offensive skills that bill walton had, like passing from the high-post. problem was he missed two seasons of college basketball because of two separate leg injuries.

bowie had a career. chris washburn didn't last two seasons.

no one in any sport could compete with thomas hamilton. not even el guapo.

i agree with Sam Bowie based on who was selected after him. If that's not the biggest bust, it is the biggest screw up.

Is it too early to add Kwame Brown to this list?

Possibly..... It took Jermaine O'Neal four years or so to get a clue. But he was on a very talented Portland squad trying to scrounge up minutes behind Brian Grant (in his prime) and Rasheed Wallace. Kwame is playing behind......Laettner. I could see a case being made for him being a major league bust.

Yeah. At the beginning of this past season, Kwame showed too much to be considered a 'bust' He just needs to get more PT in another system or on another team.

Joe Barry Carroll, Brad Sellers. I know Walton is a HOF for some strange reason, but in 13 season, he scored 6000 pts and had 4000 rebs with a avg of 13ppg. I would call that the bomb for a career either.

Concerning Jermaine O'Neal, Isaiah Thomas is a moron for not playing him after he averaged a healthy double-double (I forget the stats) whenever he played more than 25 minutes. It took a full season for him to realize that O'Neal was starter material. A terrible moron of a coach. I can't emphasize the moron part enough. Sure, O'Neal was pine fodmder on a deeop bench orn a team loaded with power forwoards.. but I dounbt his current play qualifies him as a bust (despite playing in the LEastern Conference).

I'd like to submit JR Reid for Big-Man Bust consideration. He was supposed to be like, the best prospect to come out of UNC for a long time. Failed to do much besides feed the pine.

I'd also like to submit Oliver Miller for Big Man-Bust consideration. :D actually, he was a big-man bust too. funny how those things are related...
