The Knicks have decided to buyout Corey Brewer, who was acquired last week from Minnesota. The Celtics, Spurs, Mavericks and Thunder are all interested in Brewer. http://twitter.com/#!/STEIN_LINE_HQ
damn if spurs get brewer that will be scary he is a really good defender, and spurs real weakness is someone to defend on the perimeter, and someone to back up RJ
Why on EARTH would they not want to utilize his talents? He is athletic, long (THATS WHAT SHE SAID), and is a damn fine perimeter defender... That team may be good now, but their FO is still run by a bunch of JABRONIS.
Buying out a player to let him play for a conference rival -- that has Isiah written all over it. Who's really running the show in NY?
They shopped him around last week but no takers. They need the roster spot to add another big man, they are paper-thin at C with only Amar'e and Turiaf. Actually a great piece on why Brewer is a bad fit with NYK here:
not suprising. Im a big fan of azubuike and his game, but he hasnt played all year and only played 9 games last season before he got hurt in Nov. Its obvious he still isnt fully recovered from his knee injury (torn patellar tendon). Hopefully he continues to rehab and can get another chance/team next season to make a come back. In regards to Brewer, yeah shocked. While that article is correct that Brewer doesnt really fit DA system, due to his unrefined offensive game and limited shooting abilities, he does help the knicks in one crucial wing athleticism and defense. Right now, the only players they got to back up Landry Fields and Melo are Bill Walker and never used roger mason. (Tony Douglas is the backup pg and sometimes back up sg.) Wouldnt cutting Mason have been a better option? seeing as how hes only played 10 games, has little trade value and makes only 1.4mil. By not cutting Brewer, the knicks could atleast have use him in a sign and trade or possibly hold on to him for some future trade, since he is a restricted FA after the year.
Brewer must have made waves about his playing time or lack thereof going forward and the Knicks accomodated him. He probably gave the Knicks a discount to let him go. Only way it makes sense because waiving Mason made more sense or Azu, guys that haven't seen the floor all year.
Why aren't WE look at Brewer ??? 6'9" SG/SF 24 years old Athletic Defensive minded Expiring Contract Seems like he is at least worth a look for half a season ???
