With McHale recently on NBA TV and Morey on the radio, we have an idea of what they want. They may not always be in agreement but the terms stopgap, veteran, flexibility, etc. have been used. With Morey trying to sign Pap also, there is interest in young talent also. So here is a list of players that could fit under the TPE that we have and are also mostly expiring contracts. More players obviously fit but I tried to consider whether teams wanted to get rid of those players. Here are guys that could be useful. Targets for 8.4 TPE -Brandon Bass -Jonas Jerebko -Jared Dudley (PO for Y2) -Tayshaun Prince -Carlos Delfino -JJ Barea (Lin replacement?) -Goran Dragic (Pels Pick?) -Derrick Williams -Chuck Hayes -Tyler Hansbrough Targets for MLE ($5.3M) -Shawn Marion -Rodney Stuckey (creates) -Ramon Sessions (good at getting to line, Lin replacement) -Ed Davis? -Mike Scott (would have to be more than BAE since ATL has $) -Al F-Aminu (would have to be more than BAE I would think) Targets for BAE (2y/4.25m) -Jameer Nelson (if cool with Dwight now) -Andray Blatche -Mo Williams? -Aaron Brooks -Emeka Okafor? -Luke Ridnour -Elton Brand -Wesley Johnson -Jordan Hamilton -Ryan Kelly (Clutchfans never mentions this guy!) -Bo McCalebb -Francisco Garcia -Chris Douglas-Roberts -Dante Cunningham -James Anderson -Toney Douglas -BJ Mullens -Doron Lamb Sources: http://hoopshype.com/salaries.htm http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2014.htm I think it is a good starting point for informed discussion. Feel free to update list as guys get signed. Rep if appreciated.
hmmm... Derrick Williams is intriguing. I know he's underperformed everywhere else but I think his game would fit really well here. Idk about his defense though... Also, can we use all 3? If so the Dragic TPE, Marion MLE, and Blatche BAE would make me an extremely happy camper.
Give me Shawn Marion and I'd be pretty happy with our general direction. Also Ryan kelly may be interesting, but I'd imagine LAL would match any offer
Yes, the list could be expanded if the Rockets are interested in guaranteed Y2 salaries. I know his name has been mentioned but has it been confirmed recently that the rockets are okay with midsize 2yr deals?
Howard Harden Ariza Beverley Jones Motiejunas Daniels Dorsey Canaan Covington Adrien Johnson Capella I know this list is not inspiring to you guys, but it's also 13 players long. I guess we have two spots left so don't get too excited. We clearly aren't giving out any guaranteed money for more than two years.
There is some value of going with what we have to boost the playing time and responsibilities of D-Mo and Jones for a trade and then using the MLE for vets who get waived midseason. It would require patience but that could actually be the best option for the long and short run.
That's what I'm asking too...has it been confirmed post-bosh/parsons that we are okay with adding mid-size 2yr deals? Anybody know?
I believe bud has a player option for y2. And kmart has 3yrs left. I don't know if that disqualifies them but I can't say that I think the Rockets want them with those conditions.
Can't imagine why anybody would want Bud at this point. He is injury prone now. Martin hates Morey and wouldn't be happy as a backup. Seem like poor fits. He'd be a good offensive fit next to Harden and Howard, but a lineup with Hardn and Martin in it would be a turnstile defensively. I'd imagine they'd try to reroute Martin somewhere else if this is true.
