The article was essentially saying they were reserving the MLE for KJ. However, with Joseph now unrestricted, you have to think Morey will give him equal consideration - Joseph is already a better player at essentially the same age in a position of current need. He's not a 30 + y/o PG on the decline. Having said that, I would be surprised if the MLE is enough to bring in Joseph based on the other contracts being handed out ($7 MM for Stuckey?!?).
I wouldn't be mad at signing Cory Joseph. And I think some of you are over-rating his value. Beverley has been a starting all NBA defensive PG. He didn't get the MLE. The idea that the Spurs third string PG can get the MLE seems a bit crazy.
I really do not see why KJ would require anything more than a small portion of the MLE to resign. Houston shut him down after they got him from the Sixers for a second round draft choice. Basically his last season was Sixers hell and then nothing.
they didn'g have to move Dudley for cap space. Dudley asked for a trade apparently. Now we have capspace sitting no forwards and 100s guards.
What did Baynes get? What did Marco get? Anyone with the Spur stain on them is going to get paid a decent amount.
Oh. Strange. I thought Dudley played well enough to get a better deal than 1 year / 4 mil. Strange that he opted in if he didn't want to stay.
he wanted an extension. They didn't reach a deal. Then he wanted playing time before he tested the market but he would always be behind our young forwards. In washington he can even start. I am sad but it is what it is.

Good call donatasfanboy! You nailed it! I wonder how much . They had plenty of capspace but such a huge hole at pf.
A trade will only benefit us if the team gets better. We don't have Kevin Martin as a trade asset. Obtaining Bledsoe, Lowry may cost us Ariza. Even Lawson will probably cost us quite a bit. MLE money has become the norm, so using a good backup in a trade in the future along with other players can be beneficial, without having to give up a big player. When does the restriction on trading a MLE player end?
