http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/01/tigers-to-sign-prince-fielder.html I can't even hate on Scott Boras, the man is incredible.
People think basketball players made way too much, while the football players should've been happy with deals spelled out by the owners. WOW ... these baseball contracts are ridiculous, like the guy wearing a paper hat, like running through the park nude.
Holy ****! That's ****ing insane! Well, at least he's going to continue the Fielder legacy in Detroit.
I thought he hated his dad too? I wonder if their relationship changed because Detriot seems like a strange place to get out of your dad's shadow.
Looks like they are feeling the pressure to win THIS YEAR because come next year the ASTROS are bout to COME and CONQUER the AMERICAN LEAGUE. They scared of us.
Do the Tigers make this back in their media market, or does Fielder end up with the Yankees by mid-decade?
They are both overpaid, but I'd take Fielder's contract over Pujols simply because of their ages. At the end of their contracts, Pujols will be 42 while Fielder will be 37.
I'll take pujols. At least you know he aint going to become a fat ass. I don't know why any athlete picks over baseball over any other sport. You have the longest career, the best contracts, and most power union in the world.
Most of the multi-sport athletes who are good enough do choose baseball. But it's the most difficult skill-wise, it has a multi-tiered minor league system that weeds out lesser players, and you absolutely have to pick it up early.
I still feel bad for the Brewers. The guy they do sign to the multi-year deal gets caught for PED and a 50 game suspension, and the guy you wish could have said goes next door to the team that used to be a hated rival. I guess at least he didn't sign with the Twins. That would have really twisted the knife in the back. Sidenote. I fail to see how any of these large contracts are worth it. All the historical contracts tend to show that most of the players who sign deals this large never produce what is expected or simply do not win enough titles. I think at most they have led to only 1 World Series Crown. I mean I understand that to fans, a couple $100 million from your owner is worth a title run because they are so rare. However for the owner and the management, I just don't see how spending that money and strapping your budget for that long is worth essentially 1 title.
