Wait, what? Kobe is averaging 4 assists a game; how would he go 151 games without an assist? I'm guessing you meant something else...

Kobe has had LOTS of years with a poor supporting cast.

Lol. When it comes to supporting casts Kobe's had better then both MJ and Lebron... Though if Miami stays together a while Lebron will inch up there.

I wouldn't have said the 151 number is bad... Until you pointed out the numbers of some of his contemporaries, and then it certainly is a little surprising.

HAHAHAHAHA, you mean that ONE YEAR he had Odom, Butler, George, Mimh, and Grant? Hearing this from a Kobe fan is funny. T-Mac's name must be said.

I think at this point that's pretty overstated. Shaq was traded before 2004-05, and by the end of 2006-07 Odom and Bynum were a pretty fearsome duo up front. By the middle point of 2007-08 the Lakers had the best record in the West, dipped a bit after Bynum hurt himself, and then they traded for Gasol after a few weeks.

Really that's only two and half or three seasons out of 17 with crummy help.

And check those Bulls rosters from 1984 until 1987-88. Woof.

That's incredible for a guard who has the ball as much as he has and at the beginning of a possession. 151 0 assists games in 1192 total games. That's 12.7% of his games.

By comparison, Olajuwon had 154 zero assists games in 1156 games (not counting his rookie year) (13.3% of those games). Almost the same percentage, and we're talking center versus a ball-handling guard.

Kobe loved those years because he could jack up as many shots as he wanted and no one would question him. Kobe's best years had the Lakers as first round fodder.

I thought it was 151st game this season. That would be impressive.

I'd be curious how many of the zero assist games came in his first couple years. He played about 15 mins a game as a rookie, so it wouldn't be shocking to have a number of goose eggs. Likewise, he was a 6th man in year 2, so I don't think he was nearly as ball dominating as he is today.

    not sure if troll.

anyways, it is still pretty shocking to see those statistics under kobe's name. i don't care how bad his teammates were. i just find it hard to believe that a player of his caliber was not able set up one of his teammates for an easy basket while playing nearly 40+ minutes a game throughout his career. that's just ball-hogging at it's very finest right there.

2008 December game. I can officially say our elite defence of Battier, Artest, and Yao shut him down. They actually played real defence, unlike the team today :p

Yeah, good point. And Basketball-reference says Kobe has only had 52 such games. OP's stat looks to be wrong.

    Code:

Kobe does have 162 games (including playoffs) with 1 or 0 assists, compared to 63 for MJ and 8 for Lebron. But yeah, not sure where OP got his stats from.
