At least he's being honest. He's right about there would have been a lot of pressure because everyone thinks he was the missing piece that would make us instant contenders. Anything but a great team would have been a big deal. He really has no pressure staying in Miami because everyone expects them to be worse since Lebron left. All it tells me is he didn't really want to risk all that he had and give it up to come to Houston.

 

He faces pressure as being the consistent #1 option in Miami and will continue to be as Wade deteriorates. The entire article talks about him having to adjust to a style of play he hasn't done in a while and play a bigger role on the team.

People are interpreting this article to mean that Bosh is soft or whatever when the truth is that he understands all too well the rigors that would have come with Houston.

And there is nothing wrong with that decision.

In a way his decision is very analagous to Dwight's decision to spurn LA. They both chose their definition of peace, and that's OK.

 

I dont blame him. Rockets would be the laughing stock of the league if they didnt win with all the Hate on Howard and Harden

Heat were on the brink of elimination many times during their title run, But they Had Lebron James to carry em.

Is he really gonna put his trust into Dwight hitting freethrows and Harden actually shooting above 40%.

 

He is just being polite.

The truth is that he didn't trust Howard and Harden to play like champions. He doesn't want the grief of watching Howard's ugly post moves and Harden's isos and get blamed for losses.

Pressure was a key? He will be a third option on this team, and he already had two rings. Pressure will be on Howard, Harden, then him. He was not coming to Houston because he got more money in Heats, the city is one of the best ones for living (as a report for his wife main choice), and he can be a leader of the team as well, can get more shots if he likes. Can he get any one of three in Houston?

Also, the money argument isn't that strong.

It's 4 years vs 5 years. He would have done quite well in that fifth year money wise, regardless. As long as he didn't have a freak career ending injury.

Uh....yeah it's a big difference. Are you joking? You clearly have no concept of money. You also obviously don't get that it's guaranteed money.
You think he would have gotten another significant contract after year 4? Yeah, no.

Dwight just didn't want to play with Kobe. They also have a ridiculous amount of additional taxes in Cali -- that isn't an issue in Texas or Florida (where Bosh plays, wow!)

 

No kidding. It's pretty obvious why he stayed in Miami. They offered him over $30 million more than the Rockets could. Plus he prefers living there and he's not one of those guys like Kobe or MJ who's always hungry for another ring. He has 2 championships and he acts like a guy who feels he has nothing left to prove.

It's a shame we missed out on him, but if his heart wasn't really in it or he wasn't up to handling the pressure, maybe we dodged a bullet. We still need help at the 4, but that money is probably better spent on someone else.

 

Career ended or altering injuries are a real thing. The financial security is pretty comforting. And Bosh will be 35 years old in that fifth year getting paid $30 million. That will likely be way above market value.
