Glad to see the government there is against this kind of stuff. It is sad that $hit like this happens way too often in that area of the world and that people truly have no freedom in countries like these unless they subscribe to a specific religion or ideology. I am however, glad to see that the local government/police force is now planning to protect Christian neighborhoods and that they are arresting/charging those involved. Hopefully, they can eventually repeal stupid laws like this that give these nutbags confidence to commit these atrocities.

The fact that the accusation of burning a book induces someone to torture and burn someone else is more than a little disturbing.

These people are still in the Dark Ages.

Deafening silence from the usual apologists.

If anything like that had happened in Israel to Palestinians (which doesn't happen), they would be all over it.

There are varying degrees of intolerance based on the ideology of Islam. Pakistan, next to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Iran is one of the worst offenders as far as that is concerned.

It's a very small and limited view of God if you think about it. God needs you to defend him and his honor by killing people who burn a book.

the issue here isn't even the burning of the book, it's the fact that Muslims in the area use the blasphemy law to intimidate and oppress minority groups and that the legal system is so f'd up that they will order the killing of these people without any real proof besides a Muslim saying they did it....

The logic some use to defend these acts/lack of justice is just unfathomable to me

Tired of it. We all know, in the 21st century , it's one religion. Christianity is a victim of adapting to secular times, in a place unaccepting of such progressive thinking.

Stop making this about all religion.

if they really burned Muslim holy books, then I don't have a problem with it considering the place where they live in.

Is that because you are unbelievably stupid or because you are a follower of the cult of intolerance yourself, or both?

I listened to a long report about this on BBC world service this morning. A Pakistani pundit said that the blasphemy law was pretty much used to punish people someone had a grievance with, and that while religious minorities see a lot of abuse from it, the majority are still Muslims, who are even easier to make the accusations stick for.

No democracy should ever have such a thing and I feel complete empathy for people in Pakistan who have to live with the nutters of God empowered in public affairs, especially after having experienced it myself.

Horrible horrible thing whenever crap like this happens.

And for ATW and his usual "apologists" post, I'm sure people aren't glued to CF 24/7. Unlike you, who is always scouring the web for anti-Islam/Muslim/Arab propaganda, they have lives.
