First thing I'd like to say is that I didn't go to U of H...and secondly, I am wondering why college baseball isn't as televised as college basketball. My only guess is that college baseball players need more grooming than college basketball players...for whatever reason.

My reason for posting this thread is because, 1) I love baseball; 2) U of H is starting a pitcher out there that I personally know. His name is Jared West. And since we don't show many college baseball games, I'm excited to see Jared take the mound. Be sure to watch him today against TCU at 17:00 on CSN.

Jared was born in Houston, TX and moved to Lafayette, LA. He is the youngest of 3 brothers who is well on his way to MLB. There are not many families you can say that about.

Sean West was drafted by the Miami Marlins and his brother Lance West was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles. And who wouldn't want two older siblings showing you the ropes? As well as I know the family, I'm sure they're excited. I would certainly be a proud papa.

So here's to the West Family and U of H baseball.

    Go Cougs!

There are 2430 MLB games that are vastly superior in quality.

    That and $$$

Even when I was at UH, I didn't know when or where to watch their games. It was either Kolb or watch Coach Penders. I remember the latter passed out once during a game.

Although I will say since MLB has completely pissed me off wrt the Astros, and I don't live in Houston anymore, I've been hitting up UT, Texas State and the local HS games the past couple of years, and I get my baseball fix just fine.

Hell, even when I did live in Houston we'd go renegade style and sit in the outfield bleachers for free at Rice (do those even exist anymore?) Wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Could've used you a couple weeks ago for the Rice/Texas State game. I'm dying to go to San Marcos for a game.

Baseball is the only sport with large enough minor leagues to support, develop and drafted talented 18 year olds, so the college kids' abilities and potential isn't as clearly linked to the MLB as College Football and Basketball are to the NFL and NBA. Baseball is also more globally diverse, so alot of the most talented athletes might not be able to get into and play at American colleges; which leads some to further assume that college baseball is substandard to other minor leagues.

Yeah obviously since that's the only sport Rice will ever be relevant in

This team is the real deal. I have been to a couple of games this season, and it has been great.

I'm laughing out loud. UH dogpiles on the mound after taking 2 mid week games from Rice. #daddyRice #perspective

For those of you new to college baseball, the midweek games are when you throw your inexperienced pitchers, and frankly matter less than the weekend games.

And this is the first time since when, 2002? that UH has won the silver glove? And they had to run away to another conference to get the silver glove down to a 3 game set (all midweek games, lol) to do it.
