Exactly. There is not enough material in the last book for two movies but when you can have a cash grab like this they will always take it. It's unfortunate because if they had kept it to one movie like they should have Phillip Seymour Hoffman would've been able to complete all his scenes
The only books I've read that were made into movies were Timeline and Eaters of the Dead. And the 13th Warrior was much better than the book. I wished they had split that book into 2-3 movies.
Actually I think splitting this into two makes sense. The last book is a bit of a mess, and if they split it to flesh the story out a bit more I'll be fine with that.
Read the books... decently done, however a bit simplistic and repetitive. Spoiler dies at the end... foreal.
Agreed. The ending itself was especially rushed. I remember when there were only 30 or so pages left it really felt like there should have been at least 100. The ending just kind of happened and then it was over. So they could kind of flesh it out a bit more in the film.
I agree with this. I think it sets up better for a 2 part movie than Deathly Hallows did, and for the most part I think they did a good job with that.
I have a dream that someone will be allowed to edit the Hobbit down to one 4 hour and 30 minute movie. The last book of the Hunger Games trilogy sucks. I think people will be very disappointed in the movie version(s).
I never read the books, but part 2 was one of the most beautifully shot movies ever made. And it was full of story. Mockingjay will be making up b.s. to fill time.
That was then, this was now was the first YA I read. I think I was like 8 or 9- that and Catcher in the Rye really set me up to be a jaded teenager. That was then could be made into a decent flick, in the right hands.
Part 2 was basically the end of the book. So much of Deathly Hallows was just them wandering around with no idea what they were doing. I think Mockingjay similarly had a lot of action. in the 2nd half. To me the filler will be in Part 1.
I hope you guys bring some Aveeno Lotion.. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/C_Tsj_wTJkQ?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Looking good. And it definitely seems like they are cutting the movie off where Spoiler Peeta gets rescued
Definitely happy with the film. I didn't know what to expect, but they did a good job of adapting the book. It stayed pretty faithful, but the things they changed or ommitted were for the better. Reminds me a bit of Deathly Hallows Pt I, because there's not a lot of action, but there's plenty to keep you engaged.
Saw it this past weekend, it was OK. The first 40 or so minutes were a drag, but it picked up after that. This is undoubtedly the result of splitting up the book into 2 films but whatever. It was still good enough. Not as good as Catching Fire though IMO.
