Biased article with a ton of flaws, as many in this thread have already noted. Common arguments already heard, but most have valid counter-arguments, which, while not necessarily diminishing fully the writer's claims, do mitigate their effectiveness and show that he has little new information to bring to the table.

Read like a fb post by one of my friends that I would have responded to full of counters. Disappoint.

The "better through subtraction" argument is pretty weak and his article has 0 fresh takes. Weak.

 

Not buying it, the Rockets have stepped backwards. Assembling a strong veteran bench before the season is the only redemption. Dorsey, Smith, seriously. Is Thabeet coming back?

 

Nick Johnson is a baller, better than Lin. Rockets going to the promised land.

Ariza better defender than parsons, upgrade.

 

I do like what I have seen and heard of Johnson. Saw his uncle play back when. The kid has an impressive motor which I really like.

 

I'm upset that we lost Parsons but I thought it was a BIG mistake to offer Bosh a max contract. Had the Rockets signed him they would have been strapped financially for the next 4 years, and I doubt he would have elevated the team to the championship. Had Bosh played for the Rockets he would have played on the perimeter since Howard plays in the middle. And contrary all the hype about him being able to floor spacer, the fact remains that he is NOT a good 3-point shooter. In fact, prior to last year his previous three seasons he shot 28%, 28%, and 24%. At the age of 30 he has a career 31% average. Not good.

I think our starting 5 with marginal improvement by Jones, a legit wing defender in Ariza, Harden giving 15% more effort on defense, and a FULL season of a truly healthy Dwight(you all know he opened the season past year still not at 100%) is probably not that much of a difference from this past season's team and possibly a little better.

The thing that killed us this summer is we are damn near out of assets after giving a 1st away to LA, letting Asik go for next to nothing, and letting Parson walk. jones and Dmo are your two carrots to dangle in any trade and maybe Capella. That's not near as desirable as Asik, Lin, and Parsons.

 

Yes, it is a highly like bad signing just like the Pau Gasol trade.

 

This man is telling the truth. Everyone was criticising Harden's defense in the play-offs, when Jeremy Lin's performance in the play-offs was just as bad.
