http://abc13.com/entertainment/grammy-winning-artist-goes-off-against-hls-r/522875/ think by know most people have seen the video and Oscar's tirade this past weekend against the Rodeo's "Go Tejano Day' lineup these past years. I grew up in 1990, my dad used to be in various Tejano based groups around the city so I have a special place for the genre. Why tejano music even died in this city is beyond me. Just wanted to get some thoughts on what ya think the comittee needs to do about this date? IMO just change the name if youre never going to keep bringing these banda groups nobdoy except chuntaros have heard of. Something I believe should be done though is start a radio station devoted to tejano musci. Sure its 2015 there are various streaming muscial apps to do that but for Houston to have its own tejano based radio station would be huge
Pitbull continues to be a global star -- if anything I would think Tejano would be on the rise, not on the decline.
Norteno knifed Tejano in an alley off Westheimer. Currently Serving 8-10 in Huntsville. Blood in, blood out.
Tejano is as dead as big bad voodoo daddy. The kids didn't take up their parents taste in music. You still hear a **** load of it at cookoffs though.
107.5 in San Antonio is basically keeping the dream alive for Tejano music. Love that station. http://tunein.com/radio/Tejano-1075-s26575/
we still have bumper stickers and cups and whatnot from them from way back in the day, man that station >>>>
I agree that this groups brought in the past years are practically no names, in my opinion. I used to be excited every year to see who would play this day, but now I'm surprised if I even know who they are. I remember going when Kumbia Kings played that day and it was awesome. I also remember going to see Intocable and was also amazing. I miss those days .
