i dont think the university and uptown rails will be finished by then, having the rails open up the city could make houston a much more desirable destination for our guests..

I like the idea of the multi purpose Astrodome. It would be great for event space.

Taxpayers will also contribute $100 to some day laborers to power wash the outside of the dome. I'm telling you, if they just power washed it they'd be impressed.

I wonder why they didn't secure the 2009 or 2010 bids?

CBA fights between the big and small owners. It's why Jerry almost lost to Indy and they had to revote. All owners like going to Florida, which is why it was there those two years.

Forthcoming headline: "Houston Loses Super Bowl LI Bid to (insert Florida, New Orleans or San Diego)."

eh we will lose the bid. Because heaven forbid you'd have to take a taxi from the villages or downtown to reliant. TOOOOOOO far away! And you don't get to enjoy the stench of vomit and urine on your walk to the stadium like in N.O

There was never any chance at 50, but it's plausible to land 51

Imagine San Antonio bidded for Super Borwl LI instead of Houston, they would have a greater chance of getting it than Houston because San Antonio is a fun city. Houston needs to change it to fun city. Maybe we need to build a huge amusement park, more fun places, and becomes more of a family destination city. Then Houston would host many super bowls here.

San Antonio has about as much chance hosting a Super Bowl as it in getting an actual NFL team. Because they virtually go hand in hand (no region/city without an NFL team has ever hosted a Super Bowl).

Houston will just have to resign itself as a city getting a Super Bowl once every 30 years.

Do you honestly think having a family amusement park is going to mean anything when hosting a Super Bowl? LOL. Houston hosts plenty of major sporting events (Super Bowls, NBA All-Star games, Final Fours). People know that Houston can throw a good party and host an event. Politics has just gotten in the way for Houston to host another Super Bowl. Meanwhile, since the SB in 2004, it has hosted an MLB All-Star Game, a Final Four (and another in 2016, with a couple of regionals in between), NBA All-Star game (with another next year).

Then why people said San Antonio is a fun city to visit on vacation than Houston?

San Antonio has no chance. Stadium is a dump, not sure if it even has enough hotel rooms to accommodate everyone coming in. I don't think the NFL cares if there is an amusement park or not.

Nah, San Antonio has the hotel rooms. Just no stadium.

The same people who proposed the Astrodome renovations are also working on Alamo renovations to turn it into a multi-purpose facility. They can have the super bowl there. They can call the stadium "Alamodome: the original"

I dont know why San Antonio is rare in hosting NBA All Star Game. I thought they are a great city and should host NBA All Star Game. They deserve it.
