Wanted to get everyone's take on great gangster films so I can add them to my collection. So far I have Menace II SOciety, Road to Perdition, Godfather, Scarface, Dead Presidents, Boyz N the Hood, Juice, Gang Related, Gridlock'd, Basketball Diaries, Baby Boy, Above the Rim, Poetic Justice, and White Men can't Jump. What are some classics and fairly new ones I should add?

    White Men Can't Jump?

I watched Goodfellas last night. I love that movie.

I've always thought Scarface was a little overrated. Pretty good flick, but Pacino's fake accent was very distracting to me. I don't think it's the classic that a lot of people think it is.

I totally agree. Maybe it was great for that time but since I saw it for the first time only a couple of years ago, I have to say I wasn't impressed at all.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only who thinks this; I just don't understand what people's love affair with this movie is. GTA: Vice City was a better Scarface!

Drop what you're doing right now and go pick up Goodfellas. No further movies required.

I guess any movie with a black person in it counts as a gansta movie. :D

Well, Billy Hoyle in White Men Can't Jump WAS being chased around by a couple of low rent mob type guys, so I guess that kinda sorta counts as a gangster movie...Of course, Vestuccio Brothers just fixing college basketball games, not exactly Don Corleon type stuff...

When Billy was set up by Sidney and his boys in that pick up game by the train track, that might be considered gang activity. Then, there was that guy that was about to rob that pawn shop to get some cash for his pickup game...I'm sure he was involved in some kind of gang activity. Yes, White Men Can't Jump is DEFINITELY a gangster movie...
