Does anyone else feel its a stupid move to have teams going into Mexico to play games? Its just a stupid money grab. I mean for crying out loud Police there just abducted 43 protesting students and they end up in a mass grave few days later...

I just think its a very bad idea maybe im out of line but If I was on Rockets I wouldn't be happy about it.

I'm only bringing this up because Protest in Mexico City are starting to get pretty out of control and violent and I cant see it getting better soon. It could be a lot worse by Wednesday when Rockets show up. Heres a link to story of what went down recently thats the cause for all of it if anyone hasnt heard.

After the spurs game last year where they couldn't even play the game cause of an electrical fire and smoke in building im just surprised they keep trying to push this on teams. $$= everything I guess.

Players will be safe. Adam Silver runs all the drug cartels in Mexico.

The last thing criminals there need is to piss off the U.S. by targeting famous Americans. The government would be under huge pressure to find them and take them out and, therefore, probably would.

Pretty much, not sure what they would have to gain by harming NBA players. They are not terrorist. Nothing to gain from them doing that.

The US national team skipped that trip to Africa prior to FIBA due to the Ebola epidemic, I expect no different in this situation if things get too hairy

I really wasn't making the post because I think any of the players are at Risk of something happening, even though it for sure is a higher risk that something could happen.

I just think we shouldn't be putting $ into the hands of the corrupt government down there. If you don't follow Mexican politics just know that the Cartels and the government are 1 in the same pretty much. I sympathize with the Mexican citizens and know a lot would love this event, I just hate the thought of corrupt govt officials with blood on their hands stuffing their pockets because NBA wants to go more 'International'. They cant protect their own citizens I don't think they deserve things like this.

Wouldn't it be Mexico paying the NBA and not the other way around?

Yeah I don't see how the govt directly benefits...I'm sure some of the money made will eventually find it's way there, but couldn't we say that about a lot of other things, like apparel? Some of it is probably put together down there.
