We definitely have a good chance at KD. Obviously we'll be monitoring his health; and if OKC finally makes big noise in the playoffs (they've been snakebit since Miami and the refs won LeBron's first title), then KD just might want to stay. If KD has indicated on the sly that he wants to be in Houston, then by all means, do what is necessary to make it happen. If it's a pipe dream at best and we need to think of somehow acquiring star players already under contract (Cousins? Love?), then go that route. As long as we don't leave a huge roster space open for Flexibility (jersey #00) just to get Boshed or Meloed or Aldridged again.
Ty Lawson did just alter his contract to be unguaranteed next year. It could be possible especially if OKC doesn't meet expectations. Also, it would be pretty funny to watch how salty ESPN would be.
Yeah sure the Durant-Lawson prep school school bond is just as strong as the Howard-Smoove like people were saying on this board before Josh bolted.
Big difference though, Josh didn't have a guaranteed role on the team here in that he wouldn't be starting and he'd be splitting backup minutes with others, Durant would be a starter.
Dwight also said that he would stay in Orlando forever, he said this in 2012 the year he asked for a trade, lol.
If we waive Lawson and sign him back in the '16 offseason to a 1-year deal, would we have his full Bird rights for the '17 offseason? If so, then the situation below could play out (and would be an absolute dream scenario): -Get rumblings from Durant's camp that he'd be interested in Houston -Cut Lawson in late May -Make whatever other moves are needed to clear up cap space (renounce TJones, trade Brewer and Bev) -Use cap space to sign Durant -Sign Lawson to a 1+1 (player option) deal with the Room Exception, with the promise of making up $ lost when he is a free agent the following year Implausible? Yes. But it's fun to dream haha.
Durant would come here and it would instantly be his team. He could finally beat the Spurs and Lebron something he's been wanting for quite awhile now.
I think that I would run a lineup of Howard/Durant/Ariza/Harden/Lawson. Having Brew and Bev coming off the bench
If Durant is back to being Durant, I would swap him with Howard in a hearbeat. Lawson Harden Durant Dmo Capella
So half of the posters in this thread actually believed NBA is a game they played in NBA2K, and then the other half believed NBA is a game they played on FB with their BFF.
Let's keep the pipe's dream alive ... Those three referees on the court could join the NBA and fix games for us , and the announcer was awesome , he can replace Drexler too
I have one thing to say about Durant and the possibility of him leaving OKC. Hope and pray that OKC does not do well in the upcoming season because if it does, he is probably not going anywhere. The team has to struggle enough to plant the seeds of doubt in Durant's mind.
