On Monday night, I was in Dallas on business. I invited two clients to the rockets-mavs game. On Monday morning, I went to the Mavs website and saw four very good tickets for $147/ticket. I wondered if they would let me buy only 3. I tried and they did. A the game, I sat next to a guy that was sitting in the seat that I did not buy. I started talking to the guy and asked him when he bought the ticket. He said 2 hrs before game time. He showed me the ticket that he bought at the Mavs ticket office and it had a value of $30!!! I started talking to him and he said the Mavs sell odds and ends tickets 2 hours before game time at extremely discounted prices to fill the seats. Great idea! He said that he often goes to San Antonio and they do the same. Question-Do the Rockets, Texans, Astros do that?
Damn that's a pretty good deal, although I don't think I would ever go to a game alone. What's the fun in that? Where was the seat though?
I've gotten this deal before at the Mavs too, and it was a game against the Rockets. 3 of us went there to buy 5 dollar seats up top, since they release those about 2 hours before game time and they said they were sold out and only had 30 dollar seats. We were pissed, as cheap college students, but when we got into the stadium we had AMAZING seats, about 6 rows up, one section off of center court. The attendant came down to us and told us that we could go down to the court to try and snag an autograph, which i did, of Carl Landry. Great service there, however, the stadium I don't like as much and of course the fans didn't like my Rockets attire.
