Just a place holder until they can re-sign with Round Rock or buy and move a team to somewhere in Texas.
Astros are getting beat up in the affiliate shuffle. Lancaster and Fresno are two horrible places to judge talent. They need to get it together, take Round Rock back and build something in The Woodlands, Conroe, or heck just try to buy the Skeeters.
Does Fresno have the same issues as Lancaster or are you saying it's the opposite? It's not high altitude.
The elevation of Fresno is 308 feet. 10x of that of Houston  The Fresno stadium facilities are said to suck rocks.
I think it's more dry air. I might be wrong on the home runs at that park. I think there are some in that league that are much worse, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, and Reno.

Would have been nice to keep OKC, but teams probably realize Astros only want a placeholder until RR is available.
The Astros are getting their act together. They had limited choices with only signing a 2 year deal. They will be in Round Rock or another place in Texas in short order.
Park stats from last year: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130225&content_id=41998650&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb The only problems with Fresno are that it's incredibly difficult to get to and it's hotter than hell.
Are buying the Skeeters a realistic option? Would be nice to have a baseball team in the Houston area.
I hear there are 2 baseball teams in the Houston area. #1 - The Skeeters are part of an independent league, so buying them wouldn't give the team a AAA franchise. #2 - Crane already said Sugarland is too close.
He's just looking for a professional team...[rimshot] They need to be somewhere in Central Texas: South Austin/San Marcos or Round Rock or San Antone
