Has anyone ever tried this stuff in Houston during the winter? I was looking into doing it soon to my lawn but am curious if anyone else has done it or had problems with it. Apparently this fast growing grass helps prevent a lot of the weeds that grow during the winter as well.

You plant the seeds around this time of year, it grows during the winter time and apparently dies off in spring so your natural yard comes back. Any thoughts?

I had my lawn sprayed three weeks ago and 4 days after it was already growing fast. Now pretty much my entire yard is long, thin and green, but it's still not fully grown in since the temps are still in the 80's. Not the biggest fan of the winter grass but it beats mud and weeds. It does stop growing usually around March when the temps go above 70 degrees or close to it.

I put some out last year in some areas in my yard that were washing out. It worked well. The down side is you will have to mow it.

Thanks for the replies. I cut my grass short and put some down this evening. Do I really have to water it 3 times a day? That seems excessive. I have a sprinkler system so it isn't difficult to do but I was thinking more like 3 times a week.

3 times a week is fine. You may want to water a little more to get it started.
