Looks like a 'Dazed and Confused' spiritual sequel. I'm so there for the cars, cloths and 80's rock.

Yeah, on this one, I agree. Linklater can get a little obsessed with jocks in tight shorts for my tastes. There was a LOT more to the 80's (and 70's) than that, but whatever. He's free to tell his stories.

Did yall see the one little shot where the guy does the backflip off of the tree/cliff into the swimming hole? I'm not gonna say that that's me, but I've been that guy at that place. God Bless America.

This VH song has nothing to do with anything, it's just badass....

Around the 2 minute mark of the trailer you see a Beta Max and nice stereo system in that kids room. The rest of the room has cheap furniture. Come on man!!!!

The specific time setting in the trailer (1979-1980) makes me want to watch this movie again.

That was the deal back then. We saved up for badass stereos and TVs. 95% of my college wealth was in electronics, albums, cassettes, and my car. The rest I spent on food and Missle Command at the arcade. Those styluses (turntable needles) were expensive as hell.

It looks like a big budget sold out version of D&C. I dunno, something about it gives it a "I need another hit movie to get my next 3 picture deal" feel to it.

    Early 80's: late, late 70's.

For a bit of context, I don't think the Dazed and Confused trailer captured the greatness of that movie. I'm going to reserve judgement until I see.....on the day it comes out.

I didn't see much 80s in that trailer -- looks ok though.

It seems more like the 70s (especially with the style of dress).

They can't really get it right though.

Saw it at SXSW. Pretty funny, but probably not an enduring classic like Dazed and Confused.

Sausage Party, on the other hand, was gut busting. Definitely ground-breaking, pushing the limits for animated content.

VERY early, 80-81. Honestly, it looks like a late 70's pic.

Yep, Linklater started college in the Fall of 1979.

D&C was 1976, so it all fits.

And those of us who are about the same age think the bulk of the 1980s blew (with a few exceptions).
