Cutler may have played his last game for the Bears. Jimmy Clausen. SMH. There will be a total housecleaning at Halas Hall.
I've been a Bears fan my entire life and have never seen a coaching job this bad. Cutler has had a bad year but anyone who's watched than a few quarters of games would be able to tell you that the play calling has been horrible on offense and the defense has been record breaking bad. Personally, I lay the majority of the this lost season at the coaching staff, Trestman just isn't a head coach. Most people will blame Cutler especially about the coaches he's gone through but if you look at the coaches, they've been garbage. Lovie didn't care about offense so he just threw anyone on offense. Personally, I'd clear out the coaching staff and give it one more year with the offense, most of whom are still in their prime.
I talk a lot of Bears football with a friend of mine and have been saying since early on Trestman is an OC masquerading as a head coach. He's in way over his head. Totally agree on the play-calling (well, like everyone else). Lovie didn't do much for the offense but guys played their heart out for him. Watching them lay down on Trestman is hard. Agree they should consider keeping the offensive core together and give it 1-2 more years with a new coach (unless they can pull a miracle and switch out Cutler for a legit QB). Gotta tighten up the pass protection and at least get the guys on defense to leave it all on the field. Injuries on D killed them but effort and intensity were just pathetic sometimes. Cutler has not only been a turnover machine that lacks leadership ability, he isn't much of a competitor IMO (especially when things aren't going well). The QB should be the last guy on the team anyone would think of as a quitter. If he returns, some relationships need serious repair.
