I think right now . . . Houston is too much trying to IMMITATE and not INNOVATE
They either RELYING on the DJ SCREW sounds too much
or trying to sound like everyone else

HipHop in generic. Uniqueness is not being hyped
and Lyrics are secondary . . . if they matter at all

Also - The 'hiphop' generation has done a piss poor job of preserving it
We need 'mature' hiphop as much as the kids have their hiphop
    there is room for both

These boys right here went hard back in the day:

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/VtM6YZYfZxE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I still jam their albums to this day, classics, all of them.

This is precisely why I've left the city multiple times... The music scene here is contently mediocre...

You've moved from Houston 'multiple times' because of the music scene... Really?

Except for Bun-B...For whatever reason, once our rappers hit the national scene, they either sell-out or fall on their faces:

Whatever happened to Chamillionaire? Dude made music that everyone could relate to. Not music that just inner city crack/coke dealers, gangsters, and convicts could identify with.

Paul Wall was a better rapper in his early days, now his raps revolve around grills....

Lil Flip was one of best freestyle rappers, who just couldn't take the next step to national stardom....

Slim Thugg wont ever be big outside of Texas.
