Daniels played 44 minutes today, by far the most of any player. I think McHale was really testing him for playoff roster consideration. I would be shocked if he does not make it. Unfortunately that means somebody who has played most if not all of the regular season will be left out.

Not sure where you got that idea from.

The Rockets have shooters but they are not reliable nor consistent. Harden is probably the most reliable 3 point shooter, Parsons' has been shaky as of late, Beverley and Lin are so and so, and everyone else is okay at best. For a team that's offense is focused on inside and outside game, their 3 point shooters need to all be around the 37-38% range at the very least.

Playoffs aren't won by a few people, you can't just expect the stars to carry every game and win. The Yao and T-Mac era is the perfect example of this. You need players that could hit open shots because that keeps the defense honest and provides so much more breathing room for the stars to operate.

I think this move (if the Rockets are serious) speaks to the flaws of Morey's system. They're looking for a volume shooter on a hot streak rather than the best actual players. There is no way Daniels is a better player than Casspi, Garcia or others on the team. The 3 and D approach to basketball is too limiting for NBA players. It turns them into streaky shooters from specific areas of the floor rather than allowing players to use the whole floor and exploit match ups.

Houston does a poor job of creating easy shots for their players. They don't move without the basketball except to the 3 pt line and the only players who score consistently are those who can create their own shots off the dribble or finish at the rim. The only true 3 and D player on this team is Beverley, but what makes him stand out on offense is not his 3 or his drive, but his ability to get loose balls and turn them into scoring possessions.

I'm guessing Covington, Powell, and Canaan don't make the active roster. Although I personally would leave Casspi off in favor of Canaan but in reality, I don't think he gets left off.

McHale personally recruited Casspi, so I am pretty sure Casspi would be devastated if he was left out. Besides, Casspi's overall stats are prettty decent, including today's game. I wonder if his bonehead mistakes are so overwhelming that we are not unfairly judging him as a player.

What I noticed from him and D-MO is that for the past 4 or so weeks, they seemed to eager to prove their worth that they are in fact hurting the team. Just play teamball and get back to basics.

i think DMO will not make the 9man rotation and will be replace by powell. we need toughness vs portland and powell can give the rox toughness the guy is a bruiser plus powell has a playoffs experience before. soi its Lin,Garcia/Daniels,Powell,Asik

Say what? You do realize that the players we have (bench especially) are terrible fits for the offense we are trying to run right?

The rockets take a but load of 3s, if they are going to do that they need consistent shooters.

Morey has said in order for us to win it all we need either 1) opposing team missing a significiant player or 2) one of our players just goes off

Basically, we need to create a high variability scenario to win, and Daniels gives us that.

I think he should be on the roster. The little space he needs to release the shot, and how far back behind the line he can hit it, makes him useful.

THe way DMO and Casspi has been playing offensively, it would be easy to bench them for another player that had an offensive flow going. Hamilton was on and was playing decent minutes before now hes benched because he can't hit his shots. Whether that is fair or not, the coahc will give a player a chance to make something happen. DMO has wasted so many possessions putting up bricks. as lon gas Trey can defend a little too and hit his shots, he should be fine. Garcia Jr

I don't think so. There's no way Daniels will jump in right now to play the roles of Parsons, Beverley or Lin. He may be competing for minutes against Canaan and that is sepecial situations only. Daniels had 1 rebound and 0 steals in 44 mins. The five assists in that time will not make up for that.

What the hell are you talking about? No **** Daniels isn't replacing Parsons, Beverley or Lin... He will be the 8th or 9th guy off the bench.
