First off, there is no reason the Lakers would try to acquire Lin except for the value he brings via merchandise, LOFs, etc. Because the Lakers have to deal with Kobe's contract for the next few years at 25 million per year and nobody know what he will be like when he comes back, that opens up the need for Jeremy Lin with LOFs to carry the team through the dark years. The Lakers might need the team to suck for the next two years. Can we make this case to the Lakers or a similar case to the Knicks?
This is a waste of a thread. Also--the Lakers are putting too much money in Kobe to tank. They will sign slightly more talented, though just as overpaid players. Not gonna happen.

I think he'd make a great fit on the Lakers, especially if they don't get rid of D'Antoni. If we're going to have a backup PG getting paid that much anyway, I wouldn't mind getting Steve Nash for Jeremy Lin. Let Nash backup Beverley and bring some more veteran leadership to the team. Can nail the 3 and run an offense perfectly for 15-20 minutes. Might also draw some FA's to sign with us, since we'd be seen as more of a contender. We pick up Jordan Hill this summer and we're then able to trade Asik for a serious 3 and D player to backup SG/SF. If I'm not mistaken, Lakers would probably shave $1-2m off their cap too, which (although they would be paying Jeremy more overall) would give them a tiny bit more cap space to manoeuvre.
I'm all for getting rid of Lin and the LOFs but can we send McHale there too. The Lakers have a better chance of winning a championship as long as this joker is coaching the rox.
The problem isn't the "LOFs" as most of them are no longer here. The worst were always trolls pretending to be "LOFs" and you know they're going to be back regardless of where Lin goes.

I see hordes of people who hate on LoF's not Lin himself. Once Lin is gone, the trolls will be banned. It is as simple as that.
