I'm a Laker fan so here's my take We have Kobe on the books until 2016 and Nash on the books until 2015. That's $35M against the cap next year and $25M during 15-16. That $35M keeps us from contending. Pau is not coming back because of that $35M. We won't be able to pick up Lebron or Melo because of that $35M. That means only way Kupchak makes a play this offseason is by trading our draft pick for a cheaper superstar like Kevin Love, and hope he doesn't pull a Dwight and leave in a year. Regardless of what Kobe says about winning now, this is what Kupchak's been trying to do - see if we can trade our pick this offseason, if not we fall back on 2015 FA for big moves. In the meantime we're mediocre and might as well keep D'Antoni and sign scrubs to 2 year contracts with team options. Outside of Melo/Lebron, 2015 is the better FA class anyway and if Miami wins and with Phil Jackson going to NY, I wouldn't be surprised if neither of them exercise 2014 early termination. With Lin, biggest thing is even if we wanted Lin we have no assets to trade for him except our first round draft pick, and that would be a stupid trade. Lakers can afford his $8M 1 year cap hit but Farmar has been solid so it would be cheaper to resign Farmar and take Kendall Marshall's team option for $2-3M combined, knowing Nash is still in the lineup and we're gonna suck anyway. Talent-wise Lin's speciality is running the pnr but all our rollmen suck too- both at setting picks and finishing, I don't know what he'd do here. Far as Lin, he doesn't fit the Rockets system. But that's what you get when you sign a guy who lives in the pnr, then pair him with an offense that runs half as many pnr sets as the Mavericks and also shares pnr playmaker duties between the 1-3. It was a dumb FO move to begin with - like when we first signed Nash and immediately made him run the Princeton.
True that. What is even more sad is that there are dumb asses who still keep falling for the traps of these LOF pretender trolls.
Jeremy will never reign in Southern California Jeremy will never reign in Southern California From the east conference to the west conference To the southern side around He'll never reign
Omer, Lin, our first, Parson and one of our PF for Laker's first this year and in 2016. We give Lakers our starting lineup from last year (with the exception of Kobe instead of Harden) and they give us more future depths. Everyone wins.
Seriously... Do most Asian buy any brand names products if they can buy a cheaper replica?? If the answer is NO..then Lin does't have much of a value

Your 3 expiring contracts + your PF = about $20M in cap space We can't afford that and if we could, we'd just go after Lebron Plus if we wanted to flip our picks for guys who would be free agents and leave after a year, it be cheaper to just flip them for Kevin Love at $15M
Teams still want Nash? The guy will probably play 10 games total next year, 20 mins a game max, while making almost $10M. Can't shoot anymore, can't play D, averages 1 assist more than Lin despite pounding the ball the entire clock whenever he's on the floor. I love Nash but he's now the definition of a bad contract.
