Also consider Harden was traded in the 4th year of his rookie contract at 5.8 Million in the final year (2012-2013) plus he signed a 5-year $80 Million extension immediately after joining the Rockets. Therefore, technically the Rockets got Harden on a 6 year $85.8 Million deal which is by far the best long term bargain anyone has going in the league. Harden will be severely underpaid until 2018. By then every other big superstar will be making close to $30 Million per season even Curry.
But Curry got a championship now... That's a bargain however you look at it. In NBA, nothing matters except who's holding the championship trophy. There are no runner ups. Even if GSW with Curry lose from here onwards, that championship is enough to say he's successful and he's worth every penny and more.
The worst contract in the league is probably the worst player with a max deal. The best contract is probably the best player in the league with a max deal. Both of those get paid about the same amount of money, and one is worth 3 players, while the other is hurting you badly because you can't sign anyone else to make up for their deficiencies.
It's definitely Curry. Harden is making more than Curry and Curry won the MVP. Harden is awesome, and I love him. But I haven't seen a player like Curry in my life, although I am still young haha. Best shooter of all time, easily.
