I'm looking for a small group of men to work on separate start-up ideas together over beer at one of the local pubs maybe once or twice a month. Probably on Monday or Wednesday evenings somewhere inside the loop.

The goal is to have a group that meets to talk about what they are working on, share insight and ideas, and help keep each other on track. I've been working on something for the better part of 6 months and I recognize I could use some accountability. Plus it would be nice to get feedback from someone who has a fresh set of eyes as well as being familiar with the start-up process. I'll be happy to provide similar feedback in kind.

I want it to stay mostly “religion and politics” free and would like it if it turned into a Rockets viewing party occasionally.

Feel free to ask any questions by messaging me directly, or putting it in this thread.

BTW The reason I'm looking for men is because I'm married and it just alleviates a whole set of questions I would get from my wife. Say what you want about that. I plan on staying happily married and this is not a battle I'm going to fight.

I read the title and I thought you wanted a business partner to go on multiple ventures. Either way I'd be interested.

I'm interested. I used to do this with my best friend before he moved to Irving. I'd like to get the creative juices flowing yet again! Count me in.

Understandable and good luck OP, but I'll be where the women at.

Specifically, I'll be at my house with my wife, daughter, and two female dogs.

Kick A$$. It is really to help with each others individual ideas. However, I reckon there will be overlap and probably opportunities for collaboration.

Does Monday (10/5) or Thursday (10/8) night of next week work?

Sure, if you are working on something and want feedback or accountability. I think it would be great to have someone who is farther along and willing to give the insight of lessons learned/mistakes to be avoided.

I'll pay you 20$ to call it the "Yung-T's Bright Minds of Houston Council" and I also gain 5% share of the future earnings that are born with the ideas you guys come up with there.

    ...Deal?

I thought about that but I'm really looking for something a little more informal and "friendly". The less pressure the better. Something more akin to what I imagine LCAhmed had with his friend.

I might end up visiting Start Houston anyway, but thought it would be fun to get a small group of entrepreneurial Rockets fans together.

$20 angel investment for 5%? Eesh. Plus I'm not sure I want to wear a shirt with your name on it. Who knows what people I will meet.

Wow, my name stands for all that is good in the world. Hurts to see someone not wanting to be associated with it. :(

I'm just a BDM, but one of our cofounders is moving to Houston to assist our launch here, I could see if he would like to come. I don't know much about those challenges.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of startup are you in right now --- tech, online, or small business? I'm currently in an e-commerce start up and I started working on it since May. Sadly I've stopped working on it for two months now due to time constraints. I don't know if I can meet up with you. But I can probably do some online conversations.

It's a mobile gaming platform. Essentially a new way to monetize mobile games that doesn't ruin the experience for the player or push independents out. I'm actually trying to build it so it rewards independent creators.

I'm in the market validation stage, but family and my other work time demands make progress slow. I'm hoping this group can create some gravity that keeps me from coming to a full stop. Maybe even help foster a move to the funding stage. We'll see. Because I don't have a co-founder it can be lonely work. So I'm just wanting some ambitious camaraderie to help get to the next target.

Right now I'm just wanting to get beers and figure out how this group can be useful to the participants. If the co-founder likes beer and doesn't mind that gear of discussion then bring them on. Please keep expectations very very low.

And as long as he's not a Mavericks fan. :)

This sounds really intriguing, I'm willing to up my offer to 25$ and some free packs of chewing gum.

I assume by gaming you mean casino gaming that you would find in a Vegas casino?

I'll actually be posting a thread on the company I work for tomorrow, we launch in the Woodlands/Memorial areas, already available in Lake Charles/Lafayette. It's a delivery service for restaurants that puts more control in the operators hands than the competitors.

I don't know **** about the funding part. I just work with restaurants. But from what I've learned we raised our funding initially from pitch contests.
