I dunno, last night the PC gave an option of a system restore in which I clicked YES and it worked for a while, then went to BSOD. I hope I don't wake up tomorrow to find the same problem again.

Damn if that 2 year old surfed some pr0nz on my computer, then kudos to him haha. Maybe he saw my BBW collection, passed out and knocked the computer over.

    V strange.
I thought it might be a loose memory module (RAM).
I would try taking the memory thingies out and put them
    back in again.
So if they were loose, by putting them in again, you will
    hopefully reseat it properly.

There should be lots of youtube videos on this.
It's pretty easy, almost like Lego.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ1R0WG4H7E

    See if this helps.

If it still plays up, it could mean your win7 install is unstable.
    for whatever reason.

I would suggest trying the following.

You will need a working PC to do this.

    1. Get a USB stick. 1Gb or more.

    2. Download linux.
    http://www.linuxmint.com/

    3. Download this USB installer.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

    4. Install linux on the USB stick, using the installer your downloaded above.
    Just follow the instructions.

    5. When this is done, stick the USB in the problematic PC and reboot.

I think there is a browser that comes with it.

Just use it for a while and see if the problem still occurs.

If so, then it is a hardward problem (loose card etc).

If not, then your win7 install is the problem.

One way is to backup your stuff somewhere and resinstall win7.

Otherwise, you will need to investigate to see why is win7 unstable.
eg did you install a new program recently.
It could be a driver thing.

Or possibly the fan is not working and when the PC heats up, it reboots.
Make sure the fan is spinning. In your box.

    Anyways, good luck.

So far my pc is still running with no BSOD. I accidentally tripped on my computer box earlier and had a mini heart attack. Still running smoothly though. I'm not leaving it on over night again for some time just in case.

Thanks calcium breh and errbody! btw isn't Linux like a totally different OS? I don't want to start over and lose my "files" :)

Will bookmark thread for future reference.

No such thing as bad pr0nz unless it's man-to-man, animal, or 2girls1cup. I stay clear from those 3 :D

    Linux _is_ a different OS.

But what I described above, you are installing it on a USB stick.

And when you boot, you are booting off the USB stick.
So the hard disk is untouched.

Though you can see/access the hard disk after you boot from the stick.

When you switch off/shutdown the system, and when you remove
the USB stick so you dont boot off it again, you get your windows back.

Also, if your windows ever carks it, it is one way to get stuff off the hard
    disk.

ie. boot of the USB stick, plug in an external disk and copy stuff over.
But that is a different problem.

    Hope this made sense.

And _everything_ seems complicated the first time.

    But it is not, really.

You download the bits I listed.

Click and run the USB installer.

    It is reasonably intuitive.

ie. there is a dropdown box that lists the various linux distributions
available. You select the Linux distribution you have (ie. what you
    downloaded in step 2 above).

Select the drive which is the USB stick.

Click OK... and it will install Linux on the USB stick.

    And wait 3-4 minutes.

Then after it finishes, plug it into your PC and reboot.

And your PC will boot Linux from the USB stick.

No touchy of the hard disk.

You wont lose files or anything.

How do you do a system restore without being able to boot into the OS?

Did your PC have a recovery option in the bios?

Man I totally forgot... I think I went on safe mode. It wouldn't let me boot into normal windows, but for some reason was fine when I went on safe mode. I forgot exactly how though, I followed instructions from youtube.

Based on the above, I suspect it'd be a misbehaving driver you installed
    recently.

If you have an idea what might have been last installed, try uninstalling it
(can be done when booted up in safe mode) and see if that helps.
