What song comes to mind? For me, it would have to be the song playing on my WinAMP here at work....Benny Mardones - Into the Night.
Just a few of my favs: David Essex...Rock On Head East...You never gave me a reason (Save my Life) Gary Newman...Cars Red Rider...Lunatic Fringe
I know he's been in movies/TV shows, but this guy has one thing only going for him... Achy Breaky Heart Billy Ray Cyrus!
If you define greatest as "most popular" then I'd have to go with "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone. That was probably the most popular song of the 70's and she never recorded anything else. Also "Pop Muzik" by M went to number 1. If we are going for coolness, maybe "Incence and Peppermints" by Strawberry Alarm Clock.
Hey...they made a line dance out of it...and it gave the mullet-wearing soccer dudes someone to look up to! Don't discount the power of hockey hair!!!
In his only major league game, John Paciorek of the Houston Colt .45s when 3-3 with 3 RBI and 4 runs scored. Truly a one-hit wonder.
Mambo number 5 - Lou Bega my favorite: Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice another recent one: I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred
I don't think it's really fair to include Head East as a one hit wonder...how about the song "since you been gone" ? Head east put out several albums and have been touring for years(maybe still to this day..seems like I heard something about it not long ago)....anyway,if you just count songs that have been in the top 40,you might as well say The Grateful Dead were a "one hit wonder".
