Plucked this from this thread http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=274640 so the JB stuff wouldn't drown it out.

Doesn't specificy if he's a HC candidate though.. (edit-Berman confirmed it was for HC )

I gotta believe they are looking at him for HC. I don't think an assistant is worth his time, unless he really liked it here... or if Doc's job is in jeopardy.

What a bunch of crock, Leslie will never consider Cassell..can't really blame him, who in the world could understand sam when he talks? He might draw up a play, talk really fast and after two words he's lost everyone. Harden will be in the corner napping

Is he the lead assistant in LA? I can't imagine he's ready to be a HC. Maybe just offered a slightly better position, with better pay?

Is it just me or does it seem like they're dancing around getting to JVG?

    I kinda like that idea

Not sure how well he do, as he has no real experience as coach, but being an assistant and the history behind him, plus character, this might not be such a bad idea

Out of the bad options, at least Cassell has some spit and fire. But I don't know about his x and o to be honest, and then just making adjustments, things we are in desperate need of. And agree, JVG provides.

What makes him any less ready than Pop when he made himself coach? Or Walton now?

Yes really. Can you explain it to me?

He's a long time player, two time champion, and now with 7 years as an assistant.

I'm cool if you don't think he'll be a good coach. I'm just curious on paper why he's any less ready than for example the two I mentioned.

Yes to Sam. He's not taking **** from Harden or any other players. He's the only candidate who has a proven track record of winning. X and O's aren't the most important skill of a coach, just ask Phil Jackson. Getting players to play at their best is the most important skill of a coach imo.

I can understand Walton, but Pop? As in Gregg Popovich? Go read his wiki....sam's playing experience doesnt directly transfer to coaching.

Walton at least has been a HC, even if temporarily....he's also seen as having a really good basketball IQ, sam not as much...also, Walton's coaching mentors >Sam's mentors
