Curry unquestionably deserves it. He's a great player. He's hyped hardcore so it seems as though he was head and shoulders above his peers but on an individual talent level, I don't really think he's THAT much better than his competition. The unanimous MVP thing will be overblown but oh well. We all know the MVP voting can be flukey - there are some years where the right player doesn't even win. Not the case this year though, I've got no problem with the result.
MVP and unanimous at that. Well Deserved. Stephen Curry had one of the greatest individual seasons of all time. His team had the best regular season of all time. He's had a memorable/unbelievable/signature comeback performance from an injury in the playoffs. All that is left to complete this magical season is to win the title. And still standing in his way will likely be... a historically dominant Spurs team and a truly talented Cavs team led by one of the greatest players in NBA history
This is the key. Curry's leadership and composure this entire season is undeniable. What his team has been able to accomplish is impressive, moving screens and all. They are such a deep, smart team that click on all cylinders and Curry is the biggest part of that.
The series isn't over and IF the Warriors lose we will hear excuses that Curry wasn't 100%. If LeBron were playing like Curry, the amount of crap he would get would be staggering.
Have to admit, outside of one game this series he's been MIA. Westbrook has done a number on him. Hasn't shown up. And don't start with the "he's injured" posts. I have to admit that Thompson has really taken his game up a level in the playoffs, he's been great. Curry and Green are choking badly right now. Full credit to OKC and Donovan though.
Yep, especially not after all the "I'm back!" Trash talk that the media of course spun in a positive way. Truth is, he has the ability to wear down as the season gets long. Happened last year as well. I also don't doubt that all those games where he wasn't required to play big minutes do eventually go out the window when you can't play bit minutes consistently at a high level come playoff time.
I just have to say that every single guy that voted for Curry during the regular season has to cringe a little that He was the first guy that got a unanimous MVP vote. That being said, we can never count out this team. The Warriors are rightfully struggling bc their 3rd guy is just plain atrocious this series. Ibaka and co...have did a number on him.
The defensive intensity at the team and individual level by OKC is pretty amazing to watch. No quitting on plays and defending the rim like their lives depended on it. GS is amazing but they had a little mystique around them that intimidates the opposition. Westbrook and Co. have smashed through that and have turned this into a "who wants it more" and so far it looks GS is too shocked that OKC didn't simply roll over for them to roll their sleeves up and try to win this thing by methods other than pull up threes.
He's been exposed. The award should be rescinded Padding your stats in pick up style basketball, with an infinite amount of space thanks to a perfect system , means nothing in playoff basketball against a good team Take a guy like Tim Hardaway and put him in Currys spot, GS is even better Steph would be a borderline all star on any other team based on ability Unfortunately for the casual fan, this is the first time GS has been in that situation and they're bottled. Absolutely bottled.
Congrats to Stephen Curry on being named the Players MVP! <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">MVP<br>MVP<br>MVP<br><br>2016 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/PlayersVoice?src=hash">#PlayersVoice</a> Awards Most Valuable Player goes to <a href="https://twitter.com/StephenCurry30">@StephenCurry30</a>.<a href="https://t.co/a9MxBQzTvJ">https://t.co/a9MxBQzTvJ</a></p>— NBPA (@TheNBPA) <a href="https://twitter.com/TheNBPA/status/761309541229142017">August 4, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
