Here's his line from tonight's Vegas Summer League game:

    20:35 minutes
    3-4 FG
    0-3 FT
    6 PTS
    2 REB
    0 AST
    10 PF
    0 STL
    4 TO
    2 BS

    Nowhere to go but up!

Big whoop, it's the summer league. Novak averaged around 17 ppg last year. and we all know how he performed in the regular season.

First game, it really doesn't matter.

LaMarcus Aldridge on the other hand had some pretty impressive stats.

I never said it was a big deal, but as the #1 draft choice, it's always interesting to see what happens when they get exposed to better competition (and yes, the summer pro league definitely has better talent than the college level).

The only thing that really got my attention was the 10 fouls. Hopefully that's due to him being tired from all the stuff he's been through over the last week.

Didn't Novak have an unreal amount of fouls in Summer League, too? That certainly translated.

woah woah woah!!!! No one uses their nukes in the first battle!!! Novak is our WMD and we don't use him unless we absolutely have to win.

And based on Oden's first performance, it's safe to say that he's a mix between Kwame Brown and Michael Olowakandi. Ah...espn logic is awesome.

It was just the first game and you can't read too much into it. Still, Oden didn't really show anything other than the ability to block shots. I think he's going to struggle some against the bigger, stronger players in the NBA for a while. On offense, his jump hook looked awful as usual. He has a lot to learn and I doubt he takes the NBA by storm this season.

On the other hand, Lamarcus Aldridge didn't belong out there. He was a man among boys. I wouldn't be surprised to see him develop a 3 point shot in a couple of years. It's obvious he worked out hard in the offseason to improve himself. If injuries don't bite him again, he will be their team MVP this season.

Considering it was his first time, Durant looked OK in the limited time I saw him today. I didn't see the first half but apparently his shot was off early on. Too bad I'm gonna miss the Sea vs. Por game next Sunday the 15th.

OMG! He's going to be a bust!

Quick, someone tell the Rox to offer up Battier straight up for him, at least he's a proven commodity!

well Yao didnt score his first game... in the NBA....

but I have to say why is anyone surprised?

its not like the guy is entering the NBA as a offensive force...

we all expected him to do his shot blocking/defense

and hopefully in time develop a offensive game...

he really should have demanded the SUN's draft him...since I think with his limited offensive game... Nash and Barbosa would have been there to give him easy lay ups and put backs...

I knew he had a limited offensive game but it's the fouling out of a summer league game in 20 minutes that amazes me. how can someone do that? ...especially someone of his defensive ability.

did anyone see his game? was it as ugly as the stats looked?

    Yes. Yes.

Ugly is a very good way to describe it. It's gonna take him some time. I'm not saying Oden will be a complete bust, but he's gonna be Mario Williams for a while.

I watched about 15 minutes of that game. Aldridge looked like a hammer in the paint. That dude is poised for a big time breakout.

It looks he will progress like Yao Ming and struggle and improve alot every year, instead of Stoudemire and dominate at the beginning, but making minor refinements to his game.
