    Per 36:

    Harden: 26.6 ppg, 60.9 TS%, 6.8 ast, 5.7 reb, 1.9 stl, 0.8 blk

    Jordan: 27.9 ppg, 57.9 TS%, 5.7 ast, 5.9 reb, 2.1 stl, 0.9 blk

Numbers are very similar the same across the board. Harden is more efficient and has more assists. Jordan shot more which is why he has 1 more ppg than Harden. Everything else is virtually identical.

In 1991-1992, Jordan was the scoring champion, NBA MVP, NBA Champion, and Finals MVP.

My point is that Jordan is the greatest of all-time, and Harden is putting up MVP Jordan numbers this year.

I think that is pretty awesome.

I think some of you are missing the point. I sincerely doubt anyone is ready to say Harden is on Jordan's level. I think the OP is just pointing out how special of a season Harden is having by utilizing this particular measuring stick. It goes without saying that Harden can't come close to match Jordan's defensive prowess. But it's unbelievable to watch a guy put up Jordan like numbers regardless.

We're pretty lucky to be watching this on a nightly basis.

Harden is playing at an all-time level. In this comparison it's worth noting MJ was able to average 38.8 mpg to Harden's 36.6, so Mike's numbers are clearly better across the board. Jordan also averaged considerably less turnovers (2.5 to 4.0) and played in an era with far superior rim protectors. Not even getting into hand-checking rules allowing for increased perimeter dominance nowadays. For this era though, Harden is setting THE standard. Dude is efficient and a nightly ESPN highlight reel.

Harden is an MVP caliber SG that just went toe-to-toe with an in his prime LeBron James (aka a Top 7 player ever) yesterday and outdueled him. He's special no matter how you look at it, if he wins MVP this year or not.

I kind of get the point of this thread, to show that he's comparable statistically to MJ. But it just feels like a stretch.

I'd still take '92 Jordan over '15 Harden every single day of the week because of how automatic his mid-range J was, how dominant he was defensively, and how much more athletic he was than Harden.

Harden's a great player but he's not the best player in the league. That title belongs to LeBron and a healthy Durant is quite clearly ahead of James as well. He's also not a prime MJ-level player just yet. He's been terrific this year but let's calm down a bit.
