Have fun with this one guys... essentially, there is alpha radiation in our drinking water. But don't worry, our mayor said it's OK to drink dangerous levels of radiation because the government said it was OK. That woman should be removed from office for comments during a serious water crisis.

    http://www.khou.com/news/local/-I-t...on-Widespread-in-Houston-Water-112232749.html

"HOUSTON—A draft of a soon-to-be-released federal report shows radiation in Houston’s drinking water is much more widespread than city leaders previously disclosed to the public.

KHOU-TV has learned that the United States Geological Survey, which is a part of the U.S. Department of the Interior, met with Houston officials in September to present the preliminary findings of a report they do not plan to publicly release until next month . . ."

Saw this a month or so ago. Typical news hysteria.

Let me know when we have 1 confirmed death in a town of 4 million.

    Thanks in Advance.

This story is being underplayed in my opinion. Alpha radiation in water increases cancer risks substantially. We have plenty of deaths from that everyday. You're welcome.

Interesting. Back in the early 90's they said Houston had among the purest tap water in the nation. They even bottled it straight from the municipal supply and sold it in stores, I think Hakeem was pictured on the label.

Stuff that is harmful isn't always going to show a direct, immediate, and obvious 1:1 relationship when it comes to killing you.

When you've got 4+ million people exposed to something even remotely harmful, it is going to make the news just as much as 1 person getting exposed to a bullet in their ass at a convenience store in Pasadena (no offense, 'dena natives).

Nice edit. Pretty sure someone has been killed in 'dena by a bullet though.

    Death was implied.

Is that your standard for newsworthy?

I think 4+ million people having contaminated drinking water is a bigger deal than somebody getting gunned down at a stop'n'sip.

p.s. omg i edited this one too!!!

Guess I am bringing my own water next time I come to Houston. I might just start bottling water here and selling it down in Houston.

Water pure from the land of 10,000 lakes!

I saw that last week and I told hubby that we have to buy a reverse osmosis system. We live in Jersey Village which apparently has one of worst drinking water in Houston Area.

I feel sick to my stomach. I wonder if Pur filter filters out the radiation? Probably not?
