Almost all NBA screens are illegal if you call by the book. The thing is, they call some and not call others for no apparent reasons. That is probably the easiest thing for the refs to fix a game because it is so random . . . if you believe in conspiracy.
Outside of a Patrick Ewing Travel, hold up, CNN is reporting on the ticker that Rasheed Wallace was just called for another technical. Mfer.
It is clearly defensive fouls. I am glad that they let them play to the extent they do, but rule book defensive fouls could be called multiple times on pretty much every possession. The vast majority of offensive possessions where the defense is set will have at least one defender who: 1) holds, 2) pushes, 3) charges into, 4) impedes the progress of an opponent by extending a hand, forearm, leg, or knee or by bending the body into a position that is not natural, or 5) initiates contact with the ball handler with any body part, including but not limited to forearm, hand, or body.
Someone told me a few years back they made a rule that the Hand is part of the ball .. . so it is ok to hit the hand to get to the ball This was the explanation of why some steals and the Duncan Block/Foul on Harden were 'legal' Rocket River
Blocking/charging ... it seems like determining whether the foul was on the offensive player or the defender is the most prone to star treatment or worse yet, flopping! If both players are equal in caliber and don't flop, the refs practically just flip a coin.
