He just doesn't care about jobs. Meanwhile, China and India continue to gain an advantage over us by not being held to these rules. Remember, the US was the only party to actually meet the Kyoto protocol GHG emission standards, even without these new rules!

Hope everybody enjoys paying more money for electricity!

The best part about it -- he's trying to skirt congress and act by fiat through the EPA.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...missions-from-fossil-burning-plants-part-his/

The Obama administration took aim at the coal industry on Monday by mandating a 30 percent cut in carbon emissions at fossil fuel-burning power plants by 2030 -- despite claims the regulation will cost nearly a quarter-million jobs a year and force plants across the country to close.

The controversial regulation is one of the most sweeping efforts to tackle global warming by this or any other administration.

The 645-page plan, expected to be final next year, is a centerpiece of President Obama's climate change agenda, and a step that the administration hopes will get other countries to act when negotiations on a new international treaty resume next year.

How is something that is agreed upon by majority of the scientific community a fantasy?

jobs and higher electricity prices (which disproportionately impact our nation's most vulnerable -- the poor) are something to think about...

The true costs of coal include the health costs and the environmental damage of climate change.

Jobs can be created by developing a renewable energy supply.

do the math and show your work.

Sorry BigTexxs, but this is something that is sorely needed - plus 97%, yes 97% of scientists believe that human activity is a major player in Climate change. Again..thats 97%. It would have to be one HUGE conspiracy theory to convince that many scientists of something thats just a fantasy.

BTW - I do think its hilarious that many of the changes won't go in to affect until AFTER Obama leaves office - He'll get the credit for helping the climate, but NONE of the credit for the economical effects from the legislation (and there will higher rates, possibly some losses of jobs, etc) However, you have to realize that we WILL recover from the short term economic effects..but its harder to recover from the long-term climate effects.

Even by the ridiculous off chance that man made climate change is a massive scam created by scientists, right wingers are ignoring something rather important.

Nations that industrialized first in the 1800s are the nations that we see today as world superpowers. Creating an entirely new market and dominating first is a major contributing factor in sparking a world power. The United States creating an entirely new market and dominating it for nearly three quarters of a century(automobiles) is a significant factor in the United States becoming a world superpower.

What ever nation adopts sustainable and efficient clean energy first will dominate the world energy market.

    also, the environment is racist:

And the future jobs, the future generation's jobs, lives, climate, isn't something we should think about either? Strangely shortsighted Mr bigtexxx

    This isn't cap and trade.
    skyrocket is a subjective term
spurring innovation is a valid choice to spend money on, like going to the moon
the costs of continuing coal will also skyrocket, in healthcare and environmental damage
We have to lead on this issue so the real players, China and India, don't use us as a reason to burn up the planet
Jobs and relative creature comfort would pale as issues if the existence of life on the planet is at stake

    It bears repeating:

Plot idea: 97% of the world's scientists contrive an environmental crisis, but are exposed by a plucky band of billionaires & oil companies.
— Scott Westerfeld (@ScottWesterfeld) March 21, 2014

I knew there was a reason I encouraged my son to go to UT instead of Rice.

A climate change denier allegedly from Rice U. They must be proud.

My electricity bill won't change. It's already renewable and $28 per month.

Why do you insist on staying with coal?

The future is renewable energy. Sooner or later we'll get there. Small steps along the way. Did this just make it a big step that is going to destroy our way of living now? Or is this more wolf crying?

The idiocy of the left's position --

    1) just how little this will impact global climate change (hint: Asia's where it's at)

    2) their belief that the climate change fight is acceptable AT ANY COST to American jobs and pocketbooks.
