Here's a fascinating look back Vanity Fair article from 2013.

    Fascinating tidbits.

-Daniel Day Lewis wanted to play Vincent VEga bad
-Alfre Woodward auditioned for Mia Wallace as did Michelle Phiffer
-Matt Dillon was offered the role of Butch but needed to sleep on it. Quentin
was offended and gave it to Willis.

Thank goodness; there was a little too much Segal and Van Damme back then, some really horrific comic-book and video game adaptations, and the black gang stuff was getting a little redundant. The top tier of broadcast television was actually starting to co-opt and make more compelling work than mainstream Hollywood, between Seinfield, Homicide, NYPD Blue and especially ER.

I've lost count of how many times I've seen the flick. It remains superb, and Tarantino's greatest film. Heck, easily one of the top 50 films of all time, in my humble opinion. It's one of the flicks I'd want in my collection if I happened to be stuck on a deserted island with a power source and the means to watch stuff. Great performances by virtually everyone in it. Amazing!

Truly a classic, one of the movies I know almost line for line. It's up there on my Mt. Rushmore of movies, along with The Empire Strikes Back, Shawshank Redemption and North by Northwest.

1994 as a whole year was truly remarkable. Forrest Gump which is another one of my all time favorites was the 3rd best movie, maybe even 4th after The Lion King. Throw in Speed, True Lies and Ace Ventura for good measure.

Just for the record. Reservoir Dogs only stayed in Houston for five days. I was one of the lucky ones to see its inititial release. It didn't come back to theaters until after Pulp Fiction

Reservoir Dog was the launching pad for Steve Bescemi

That fact in itself makes me rank Resevoir Dogs higher than Pulp Fiction. But I might be the only one on the planet who thinks that

Further to the Tarantino/Steve Bescemi cool Resevoir Dogs story was I did a defensive driving class that year to get out of a ticket. I thought this time I'd do the comedian class.

    Big mistake

So to 'splan the story. The comedian asked us all what our favorite movies of the year were

I was in the back so offered my offering late. Most movies had already been discussed

I said Resevoir Dogs and Delicatessan

And then this comedian chick stopped with unfair advantage over her skill and time of day 8am

She had been looking for something that made her job easier this morning

"Wait. Resevoir Dogs and Delicatessan? Never heard of those".

And she stopped unlike the rest of the room to 'splain myself

I innocenctly said delicatessen was a comedy. A post apocalypse comedy. Then I said Resevoir Dogs was the most awesome dialogue movie I've ever witnessed. And she the comedian prodded my further.

Well it's a jewelry heist that went bad

Then some dude in the front row said "I read about that movie
. That's the movie where everyone died"

And I was stunned. Everyone looked back at me as I went through the movie in my head. And I rised up to say. "Everyone did die" except Mr Orange maybe this new actor who've I've never seen before

After I just tried to justify a post apocalypse comedy movie about cannables pre TWD by 20 years
I was shunned for the rest of the day. Nobody would talk to me

    So sad

Would the movie have been better or worse had Michael Madsen had the role of Vincent Vega (who was the brother of Madsen's Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs), as originally planned?

    I say better.

Some Rita Rudner wannabee without a full set went catatonic after her cop-out audience bit blew up in her face.
