Just made me realize how heavily The Fast and Furious borrowed from Point Break

Just bend the ending toward the 'villians' more

I was thinking the same thing. For a second, somewhere around the "I need more time" line, I thought I was watching a trailer for a remake of the original The Fast and the Furious.

Irony within irony. No matter how many action set pieces or stunt work in this new movie, I'm sure they won't have classic lines like these:

This looks fine, actually a pretty good augmentation of the original concept with a bigger budget.

Another example of Hollywood appearing bankrupt of original ideas. The original Point Break is a terrific film. Sure, it has its silly moments, but for the genre, it's very well done, much of it is beautifully filmed by Ms. Bigelow. At the time of its release it was quite original for an action flick. How about leaving it alone and, dare I say it, attempt an original idea. If that seems impossible, at least borrow the plot wholesale, if you must, but don't call it Point Break. You're simply spinning a broken record that can't touch what came before. Like much of today's music. I'll wait until it ends up on cable, and when I'm very bored late one night, find out just how much this travesty sucks.

Remakes have been present since the early days of Hollywood. There are only so many story and character archetypes.

It shouldn't be seen to be any different to the many productions of the same play in theatre.

this does not even seem like a remake though. the names are the same, but it is a totally different plot/story-line. "point break" was a surf reference and there does not appear to be surfing in this movie. no ex-presidents either. and no anthony keidis...back off warchild, seriously.
