Maybe you'd feel differently if it was an older brother getting his younger sister to kiss him for long periods of time? (Among other things) I doubt she told us everything that went on. Even with what she's admitted to she would have been crucified by the media if she was on the right.

    you mean like Duggar did?

I certainly KNOW Duggars haven't told us everything that went on based on this timeline.

I don't understand the obsession and comparison to Dunham. there's no double standard. she and her sister were forthright and did not hide behind Family Values bs or help their family members avoid prosecution (of course she was 7 so it is a moot comparison).

church therapy hard labor send him to the church elders/convicted child pornographer, that will show him!

    you apologize for this guy?

Apologize for him? Hardly - just pointing out that Dunham is in pretty much the same boat and seems to get a pass.

No she's not. Only wingnuts with a political agenda see these two cases as in any way equivalent.

I wonder if the father still feels that those participating in incest should incur capital punishment?

Didn't really follow this story, but from what I gather:

She is unpopular among most males for her views and her willingness to expresses them, and I'm guessing her looks also enter into it somehow. So, some will take a story like this and apply the label "child molester" in hopes of ruining her.

You're guessing? Of course her looks enter into this. There are a lot of males who are obviously threatened by smart women and if they're not pretty to look at, you get reactions like this.

Didn't know the link between this 'quiverfull' crap that this family prescribes to and Andrea Yates. Though I did remember back that there was talk about how the Yates were advised not to keep having kids because of her condition.

Alot of 15 year olds made mistakes. . .
some do years for selling weed to eat.

Some get kicked out of school and have permanent records that prevent them from getting jobs in the future because of it.

Alot of them are alot less heinous than molestation

If a male child did what she did .. . . it would be no big deal?

A boy doing something like that to his little sister is different than a girl doing that to her little sister. I'd be inclined to call it a "bigger deal", without having further details.

In both cases, the parents should talk to them and explain why its inappropriate. Kids are curious and ignorant of what's acceptable behavior, and they can make mistakes like this without knowing better. Unless what they did was sexually motivated, referring to it as "child molestation" is too far. And insisting to have that label stick after they've grown up would be, in my opinion, unnecessarily cruel.

As for a kid who is past puberty, who understands what "molestation" even means and engages in behavior like this, well that's obviously a different situation entirely.

I'll paraphrase even more - the Commodore is jealous/envious of/hateful towards successful/rich/famous/whatever people who aren't right wing douche clowns or Randian shruggers or massive entities or whatevs, because it can't be squared with his outlook which is why he frequently blunders into dubious stances that end up being just plain embarrassing for everybody involved.

    Hence the previous disconnect.

Josh Duggar confessed to his father Jim Bob Duggar on THREE separate occasions to multiple acts of sexual molestation against his sisters and a family friend, according to a new police report obtained exclusively by In Touch magazine.

The document also makes clear that Josh was 15 years old when he molested his 5-year-old sister and committed at least SEVEN acts of sexual molestation.

With fewer redactions than the first report, the Washington County Sheriff’s document makes it clear that despite Josh’s chilling confessions the Duggars waited at least 16 months before contacting authorities about the molestations, even though the behavior was continuing and growing worse. During that period they did not get professional counseling for Josh or his victims. Legal experts tell In Touch that Jim Bob and Michelle could have faced six years in prison for their inaction, if the statute of limitations had not expired.

As they break their silence about molestation allegations involving their son Josh, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are thinking about at least two specific audiences: their fans, and the executives at TLC who finance their reality show "19 Kids and Counting."

The Duggar parents sat down with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly for an interview taping at their home in Arkansas on Wednesday morning. The interview airs Wednesday night.

Kelly told The Wrap, "It will not be a 'gotcha' or an attempt to bring down the Duggars."

TMZ obtained a clip from Kelly's interview on Wednesday afternoon. In it, the anchor asks the parents what it was like when they learned what their son had done. Michelle Duggar said they were worried they had failed as parents.

"Here we've tried to raise our kids to do what's right, to know what's right, and yet one of our children made some really bad choices and I think, as a parent, we were just, we were devastated," she told Kelly.

...TLC pulled "19 Kids and Counting" from its schedule. Advertisers have left the show in droves. And TLC is debating whether or not to resume production of the show.

But coverage by Fox News has been scant -- in fact, the disturbing news about the Duggars was barely mentioned on the air until Kelly's interview was announced last weekend.

There are certainly political overtones to the Duggar controversy. The devoutly Christian conservative Duggars are popular figures on the right, and family members have played active roles in Arkansas politics.

A former state legislator, Jim Bob Duggar ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2002. Last year, Michelle Duggar recorded a robocall urging residents of Fayetteville, Arkansas, to protest an ordinance aimed at preventing discrimination against gays.

And the embattled family has a well-documented relationship with one of the state's best-known political figures, former Arkansas governor and GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee, who left Fox News at the beginning of the year to pursue a White House bid, swiftly expressed his support for the Duggars after the In Touch story was published.

So it may not be surprising that the Duggars chose to break their silence through Fox News, the favorite cable channel of conservatives.

"I want to hear their story, and I think America wants to hear their story now," Kelly said on her show Monday.

The Duggars have a P.R. expert helping them tell that story: Chad Gallagher, the head of the Arkansas firm Legacy Consulting.

Gallagher is also a longtime adviser to Huckabee, and is the executive director of Huck PAC.

Gallagher declined to comment on his work for the Duggars when contacted by CNNMoney.

And Fox News did not respond to a request for comment on their Duggar coverage.

Kelly's comments in advance of the interview have homed in on the media's coverage of the case and the role of law enforcement.

On her own show on Monday, she said she appreciates her reputation as a "tough but fair journalist," and said that "nothing is off limits" with the Duggars. But Kelly, a former attorney known for grilling guests on her program, said the interview "isn't going to be a cross-examination of a family." And certain topics apparently will be avoided.

"I don't plan on getting into the specific details about what was done because my understanding is the victims don't want to discuss that either," Kelly said.

Kelly has placed the privacy of victims at the center of her discussions; she appears determined to bring the heat to the Springdale, Arkansas, police chief over the release of the report that detailed the molestation allegations.

Critics have called for Police Chief Kathy O'Kelley to be fired, asserting that she broke the law by releasing juvenile records and violated the privacy of Josh Duggar's victims.

"One of the questions I want to get to is: How do we know about this?" Kelly said Monday night during an appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor." "There appears to be a police chief in their jurisdiction who improperly released the police report."

The police chief released the report in response to a Freedom of Information request by In Touch.

When she re-visited the question during a nearly 10-minute segment on her program Tuesday night, Kelly responded forcefully to a panelist who defended the release of the report.

"Whatever you think about Josh Duggar, let's take him out of it because that's the easier part. It's like, you know, he did this stuff and now it's known," Kelly said. "He, too, was a juvenile, however, so it is very controversial. But the victims, the victims have been revealed and re-victimized by the release of the intimate details."

None of the victims have spoken publicly about the incidents.
