I was at a casino over the weekend and was playing roulette. I was think has any one ever challenged in the courts if 0 is considered even?

I would imagine that a challenge in the courts wouldn't work because the casinos have individual house rules for each game and how they operate. For example, you've got a ton of different variants of blackjack. There are copies of the rules that can be provided to a player at his request. For example, I like to play a game called pai gow poker, and there is a "house way" that may vary from state to state or casino to casino. Every casino calls it the "house way," but it is different based on their set of written rules.

Within the rules of roulette, I'm sure casinos have excluded 0 and 00 from being considered "even" numbers in roulette.

What is there to challenge, by definition, 0 is even.

Why would a casino want to change THAT rule?

The 0 and 00 is the house advantage. If your table has a single 0 the house advantage is 2.7%, if it's 00 then the house has a 5.26% advantage. Always look for the single 0 tables.

If the table was single 0 and they considered it an even number then the casino wouldn't play that game because they would not have an advantage.

As someone else earlier said, 0 is the house advantage. There are no ways to bet on 0 with outside bets (odd/even red/black/ street) and 0 can only be a single bet on its own with odds of 1 to 35 payout. You would never win a court case with the mind that 0 is an even number.

However in the casio the 0 should not be looked at as an actual number. They might as well call it X or XX, but that's more scary to gamblers.

Why is there a question mark in the thread title?

Are you not sure if this is a gambling question?

It is a statistical balancing act for the casino.

Keep the 0 or 00 there to give you depth of choice, while upping their number of things for you to bet on, which in roulette means there are now 2 ways to lose money if you choose Black Red Even Odds or now ZEROS/GREEN.

basically increases their odds of taking your money while increasing your odds in losing money, with the incentive of the off chance you actually beat the odds...which odds are never happens.
