Yes exactly, also why I said the Wizards might be the toughest challenge in the East. Nene, Gortat, and John Wall.

Beal reminds me of a prime jr smith or monta ellis. Sweet stroke but he just chucks away.

Uh, last time I checked, Van Gundy led the Knicks to plenty of playoff series victories and all the way to the NBA Finals in 1999. Thibodeaux led the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011 and the Semifinals last year. And that's to say nothing of his time as an assistant in Boston when they won the title in 2008 and nearly got another in 2010.

The reason the Bulls can't kick into an extra gear this postseason is because they don't have anyone who can create their own shot. Rose is out. Deng was traded away. And Noah for all of his greatness is a passer and defensive specialist, not a scorer. Give this team Melo and a healthy Rose next season and watch out.

Of course, I wouldn't mind if the Bulls overreacted after losing to the Wiz and fired Thibodeaux and allowed the Rockets to bring him in to replace McHale. Could you imagine his defensive system combined with the offensive firepower already on this roster?

I don't really think it is a stretch.

If you believe that Anthony wants to win (if he only cares about money and lifestyle he stays in NY) then the fact the Rockets get further in the playoffs becomes a strong point. The Bulls will play up Rose coming back and the ease of the East, the Rockets (if they beat Portland) can position themselves as the up and coming team with an elite front office. Also, Chicago loses more important pieces to get Melo than Houston would.

Part of the reason, they are 9/5 is that they play in the East where it HAS (not as easy a path from this year on in) been easier to get there.

It took a miracle for Miami to beat SAS last year......

I don't think the Thunder are coming out of the West as they have some of the same issues as the Heat with regard to being vulnerable to strong inside play.(and to a certain extent good PG play) They do have Superman and the refs, but.....

Yes, it is important to have strong point guard play in most cases going up against Miami, but looking at the West...

SAS/LAC/MEM all have strong point guard play as well as size. Even G.S. is real good out top.

Then there are our beloved Rockets who when healthy have a chance THIS year (healthy Bev/Harden/Howard needed), but our window really opens up next year after we deal Asik for an all- star and unload Jeremy the Wicked(peace disclaimer, not attacking him), adding another stud out top. After this offseason, we should be one of the two favorites.

And I understood what was meant by being beatdown after playing all these tough teams. Actually, If a team is healthy and makes it out of the West, then this road works to the WC champion's advantage as they will be playing at a very high level going into the finals.

"Unless the Indiana Pacers show me something, the Miami Heat will be meeting the Wizards in the Conference Finals." - Stephen A.

(And said this may somehow give Carmelo pause about the Bulls/staying in NY.)

When I mention "strong" PG/big man play, it includes both ends. The Spurs were able to nearly beat the Heat last year b/c they could score AND defend the Heat.

Clips/OKC can't defend the Heat. Memphis can't score on the Heat. None of the Western teams can beat the Heat in a 7 game series but the Spurs.

Ha, he didn't say it'll give him pause because they lost in the first round but rather Thibodeau running his guys into the ground. (Jimmy Butler playing all 53 minutes last night, Noah with 46 minutes. And so I guess, 'Melo feeling like he'd have to carry all the weight again.)

What do you think the Heat's record would be if they played in the West?
