Who is more likely to be Harden's primary backup next season?

Marcus Thornton....KJ will be eased in

 

Corey Brewer. Just like last season.

 

let's hope mchale exploits more matchups with his bench players this season instead of just blindly sticking to his rigid substitution pattern game after game regardless of the opponent or game situation.

 

McDaniels is 3rd SF, Thornton will be 3rd SG. Damn we're deep.

 

At this time last year people were high on Troy Daniels as our backup SG and thought there was no way he wouldn't get at least 10ppg.

With that said, I guess Thorton.

Brewer.

I can see Brewer being the primary backup for both the SG and SF spot for the majority of the season if Harden and Ariza are healthy.

 

The way I see it, in a perfect world KJ is Ariza's understudy and Brewer is our backup two.

Ariza's workload last year was absurd - second only to that of Harden. It's unrealistic to expect Ariza to do the whole '82-games playing 40 MPG' thing again. This is where KJ will be useful performing essentially the same duties. Provided, of course, he develops a reliable jumper since it's very difficult to play in our 3&D system if you can't actually "3".

I think Brewer takes over both 2/3 backup duties if KJ proves ineffective or can't put the ball in the basket, otherwise Brewer takes less minutes to mainly backup Harden and KJ helps give us 48 minutes of hell on the perimeter for our opponents.

 

Brewer I think. Kj should get more minutes this year and be part of the rotation though.

 

The wing positions will be backed up by some combo of Bev and Brewer assuming Ty starts

Bev will back up 1 and 2 while Brew 2 and 3

Rest may get garbage time

 

Obviously, the biggest help for Harden will come from the addition of Ty Lawson. It seems to make sense to have Lawson come off the bench, where he can be the primary playmaker.

If so, I can see that second unit play out in two ways:

PG Lawson
SG Brewer
SF KJ

which gives the team length and better defense. Or:

PG Lawson
SG Thornton
SF Brewer

when McHale wants to put more shooting and can get away with less defense and size.

For some reason, I'm under the impression that KJ is better suited as a small forward.
And if Terry does re-sign, then the rotation would probably change as well.

 

Hopefully we're like last years warriors and sit our starters a lot during 4th quarters

 

Brewer and Beverley. Maaaaybe Thornton but I expect the playing rotation to be: Harden, Lawson, Howard, Ariza, Motiejunas, Beverley, Brewer, Jones, Capela. Spot minutes for Thornton, Terry and Hayes.
