Lakers has two of the top big mans in the leauge this season but on the crunch time all they do is stand and watch kobe do his 40+ point winning streak.

if the lakers have drawn a play to post up bynum and gasol they could have win the game...

Pau was great in the triangle, his skill set was perfect for it, good awareness, good passing, 7 footer with decent range and a solid post game.

Mike Brown on the other hand has offenses that are constructed as 1+11 role players.

No. Kobe did that even with Phil last year. As soon as playoffs hit like last year expect Kobe to start passing the ball and be like " my bigs suck".

totally agree OP. Even the announcers were wondering why the inside players of the lakers weren't even getting touches...at all.. It was pretty funny.

jordan was a scorer, and a ball hog, but finally came to the realization that he needed to play team ball. Nights like tonight are clear examples of the difference between jordan and kobe.

my favorite was the airball fadeaway 3 from a hundred feet out in the middle of their only run. He tried to bring out the jaw like he is the man, and then went on to help them lose with his excessive chucking. It was desperation at its finest. The only thing missing from this game was a cheap shot from fisher and a million free throws from joey crawford.

Kobe is already losing bynum mentally. In fact bynum wasnt even in the post towards the end of game and was standing around free throw line. Gasol was surprised to even get a shot and when he finally did he was so rusty from kobes hogging. I just dont see bynum deferring like this too much more, and I see big problems on the horizon between bynum and kobe if this keeps up.

kobe can score but he cant play team ball to save his life. It may work against tomato cans like the warriors or cleveland. Dont be fooled the lakers were really trying, and they were clearly levels below. They were outmatched the whole night. It really wasn't even close.

I love seeing the real kobe come out ball hogging, and helping them to lose by scoring 40.

mike brown is a joke, and this is going to be fun watching them implode because of kobes ego and browns ineptitude allowing it to happen.

Kobe can and has played good team ball over the past few years. Right now he is just determined to take every shot for some reason but he he's smart enough to know he can't do it all year or even win that way. When it's time to get serious he will pass.

Lakers need to make the Howard trade for the long term.

Well, it was a pathetic game by Kobe. However, I don't think Brown is a joke. Brown was letting Kobe do his thing, hoping that Kobe would see for himself that he needed to give the ball up. And the truth is, Kobe didn't really need to give the ball up until the last 9 minutes when the Clips became very aggressive with the double team all over the floor. In my opinon, Brown was hoping Kobe would see that for himself and give up the ball.

Remember, Brown didn't have the problem with Lebron. Lebron was more than happy to give up the basketball because Lebron wants to be a playmaker. Lebron needed to be more aggressive in scoring in late game situations for Cleveland. So, it's really the opposite problem with Kobe.

You are spot on about Bynum however. It is utterly ridiculous what Kobe was doing out there and not giving the ball up Bynum and Pau. And Bynum is just the type to take a stand on it. If the Lakers are going to get everything out of their season, Bynum should stand up to Kobe on that.

However, the other side of the coin is, Bynum and Pau should be taking more shots early instead of deferring to Kobe so that they are an option at the end of the game and so that the defense is considering them as options that they have to cover instead of playing 3 on 1 on Kobe. Kobe, despite the end of game forces, was the most efficient scorer on the floor last night. Bynum and Pau have to be more assertive.

bynum shot under 50 eprcent, it wasn't like he was a hot hand. kobe shot right at 50 percent. He was getting double teamed and looking to pass in the end and the court wasn't spread right, that is coaches fault.
But I thikn people have this illusion that MJ just started passing all of a sudden. He was incredibly efficient and more skilled than his peers, but he has games littered with 30 percent shooting and forcing shots(look at the championship clinching game against the sonics in the finals for example). Guys like him and kobe who work harder and are more skilled even if they trust their teammates, always trust the ball in theirh ands more, that is just their mentality. So these guys are going to force shots and they can make em where others can't at times, but its not ogod traditional hoops.

Regardless, they should've rode kobe when he was hot, but put more pressure in the inside in the 4th when they had trouble scoring, this is mike brown needing to learn how to do it and also that rookie PG just won't get the job done
