I can verify you are right on the second part because an interview with Astros personnel said they aren't allowed by MLB to release the new look until after the season.

Here is an article where Crane said after the season, but there is another that said they couldn't because of some MLB issue. I can't remember where I read that one though.

My 2013 plans, re: the Astros, include updating colors to reflect these changes. I don't often leak information, but when I do, I drink Dos Equis.

Colors only - and even that was verbal. Dark blue? Light blue? No idea. Likely to see what they have planned in the next week or three.

if they go orange, they're not going baby blue...i can't imagine they would do that. this will be about going retro to some extent as we've seen with other mlb and nba franchises of late.

Not that it is any indication, but I bought a Nike Dri-Fit shirt at academy a couple of weeks ago. It was navy and orange like the old colors. I could very much see going back to that color scheme and like the others, I would be happy with that. Here is said shirt:

I paid way less than $30 too.

It's funny..when you walk around MMP, there's at least as much retro gear being worn/sold as the new stuff.

My boys are Astros buddies. Everything they've gotten so far has been the old color scheme.

I doubt it. The current colors aren't unique. I hope these do, though:

I still think those are the Astros' best looking uniforms, and the best job any team has done of modernizing their look.

That's the one I bought as well, great shirt. I would love those colors in the new unis.

the blue and orange are just better looking colors than rust.

I signed my kids up last week, so we haven't gotten anything just yet. Maybe it is foreshadowing of the future :)

Wes: I wouldn't be opposed to that style either. In fact, my initial thought was that I would like to see something with that lettering/jersey style in the old blue/orange color scheme.

Modern in the 90s maybe. Retro is the new in now. Rockets need to go back, too.

Throw some orange on those and an H on the hat. I agree that those uniforms aren't bad at all though. Not nearly as offensive as the current ones and to a lesser extent what the Rockets have going currently.

Please, whatever you do, no pinstripes or cursive lettering. Absolutely hate both of those for this team. They just don't make sense.

There should never be an "in". The general look of the colors and logo should never change, with rare exceptions I'm sure.

I completely agree. True in all sports, but more so in baseball than any other sport given its constant connection to its own history.
