These players have celebrity status on campus. They think they can get away with anything, and they probably do much of the time.

Add Josh Turner, projected starting safety. Disregarding the guys likely headed to jail (Sanders, Meander), that's one starter (Turner), a key backup RB (Bergeron), and one of the young talents at a pretty thin safety position (Collins). I don't know how I feel about players being dismissed for (presumably) recreational drug use, but I like that there doesn't seem to be any favoritism. You break the rules, you're out...regardless of seniority or talent level.
Awesome. The history books will forever remember the Texas team that had no Violators of team rules. This good will that "strong is cleaning up the program" won't last if he can't win.
I like it. The culture Mack allowed to fester the last few seasons was poisonous and harmed the team. Strong is letting people know that there will be no more dead weight at Texas.
I like how Strong is clearing out the hoodlums, too. I read the affidavit for Sanders and Meander. What happened to the victim is awful if the facts are indeed true. I do tend to lean towards her before any of you pounce on me. We also lost Kendall Thompson, but that's due to medical conditions: recurring concussions. I hope he can keep his health.
Dead weight is the entirely wrong word. They are good players but they are rule breakers. How much that impacts the team remains to be seen.
Alright, how about self-important underachievers? This team has tread water since 2010, but they all still think they're counting down the days until they're drafted. Zero draftees this year is an indictment of the program under Mack and these are his guys. Luckily for us, they won't be Strong's.
Probably true. But it will hopefully carry over to the next coach who would inherit a program that doesn't need to be burned to the ground to get better.
