    noted neocons...

[rquoter]Amnesty International said Thursday Palestinian rocket fire during the 2014 summer war in Gaza had killed more civilians in the Gaza Strip than in Israel.

Such deadly attacks on civilians on both sides constituted "a war crime," it said.

The damning report urged armed Palestinian groups to end attacks on civilians in Israel and to protect those in the Gaza Strip from the effects of such attacks.

The militant group Hamas, which de facto rules Gaza and led fighting against Israel during the conflict, slammed the report as "biased" and accused Amnesty of being a "Zionist organisation".

The 50-day war killed some 2,200 people in Gaza, the majority of them civilians, and 73 on the Israeli side, mostly soldiers.

Amnesty said rocket attacks had killed six civilians in Israel, including a child, but that other rockets aimed at the Jewish state had fallen short and killed at least 13 civilians, 11 of them children, in Gaza.

In the deadliest such attack, "13 Palestinian civilians -- 11 of them children -- were killed when a projectile exploded next to a supermarket in the crowded Al-Shati refugee camp," the report said.

Palestinian witnesses blamed the attack on the beachside camp on an Israeli F-16 warplane, but the army denied that, accusing militants of misfiring their own rockets.

Amnesty said "an independent munitions expert who examined the available evidence... concluded that the projectile used in the attack was a Palestinian rocket."

Army figures released after the war ended on August 26 showed Gaza militants fired 4,591 projectiles at Israel.

Of those, 3,659 struck Israeli territory and 735 were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system, leaving another 197 falling short and landing inside the coastal enclave.

    - 'Flagrant disregard' -

Militant groups used unguided projectiles which were "inherently indiscriminate," the report said, noting they are "prohibited under international law and their use constitutes a war crime."

Amnesty said Palestinian armed groups "must end all direct attacks on civilians" and take all feasible precautions "to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip from the effects of such attacks," including storing weapons or letting militants operate "within or near densely populated areas."

Hamas rejected the findings, saying Amnesty "distorts the truth deliberately, with a clear bias in favour of the Zionist enemy," or Israel.

The Islamist movement further called Amnesty a "Zionist organisation" and said its report was an "attempt to thwart Palestinian efforts to file a complaint to the International Criminal Court" against Israel, expected on April 1.

The radical Islamic Jihad movement responded that the rocket fire was in self-defence, and did little damage in comparison with Israel's advanced war machinery.

"This report gives Israel a pretext to launch a new war against Gaza," spokesman Daud Shihab said.[/rquoter]

What looks so biased is the selectivity and emphasis of the yahoo news report. You would have to see if the Amnesty Report was so similarly biased. Israel has traditionally had much more influence over these reports than Hamas.

From the article it notes more than half of the 2200 Palestinian deaths were civilians --over 150 times the six Israeli civilian deaths.

While emphasizing that the Hamas missiles cannot be targeted accurately and thus indiscriminately they fail to mention how despite claims of "smartness" by their US manufacturers the missiles used by Israel are also indiscriminate --unless you want to claim the 1000 plus civilians were killed on purpose which would be even worse.

Yeah Amnesty International is known for a pro-Israel bias.

Also Hamas is bad at aiming so it's ok

That was actually addressed in the article. AI called on Hamas to take all precautions to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip from the effects of such attacks, including storing weapons or letting militants operate within or near densely populated areas.

In other words, if Hamas stores their rockets next to an apartment building, and the Israelis blow up the storehouse and the apartment building comes down too, that is on Hamas, not Israel. You cannot use human shields and then blame the other side for shooting at you anyway.

hamas doesn't care about israeli or palestinian lives. israel cares a lot about israeli lives but less about palestinian lives. this shows that hamas is the worst of the two. they should know better than to keep fighting against a superior enemy where their own people will suffer more. but if their own people die they get PR points.

Well turns out that Amnesty previously found Israel committed war crimes, too and while a war crime is a war crime on a certain level, more were killed in Israel's crimes.

Israeli forces have killed scores of Palestinian civilians in attacks targeting houses full of families which in some cases have amounted to war crimes, Amnesty International has disclosed in a new report on the latest Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip.

Families under the Rubble: Israeli attacks on inhabited homes details eight cases where residential family homes in Gaza were attacked by Israeli forces without warning during Operation Protective Edge in July and August 2014, causing the deaths of at least 104 civilians including 62 children. The report reveals a pattern of frequent Israeli attacks using large aerial bombs to level civilian homes, sometimes killing entire families.

Israel has continued to deny access to Gaza for international human rights organizations including Amnesty International and the organization has been forced to conduct its research for this report remotely, supported by two fieldworkers based in Gaza. Israel has also announced that it will not co-operate with the Commission of Inquiry established by the UN Human Rights Council.

The Israeli gvoernment responded by saying among other things per a NYT article last November: Amnesty serves as a propaganda tool for Hamas and other terror groups.

    Not true.

The opposite is a well known fact!

You truly hate israel so much, thats its kind of amazing to me.

The only democratic and jewish state, between dosens of arabs and muslims monarchies and dictatorships, it's what really bothers you.

If you trully cared about the palestinians, article like this would have been posted by you

ISIS Storms Palestinian Refugee Camp Yarmouk In Syrian Capital

״Militants from the Islamic State group stormed a Palestinian refugee camp in the Syrian capital on Wednesday, witnesses and officials said.

The extremist group captured some of Yarmouk's main streets, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported. A Palestinian official said a "majority" of the camp was under the militants' control.

It is also dire news for around 18,000 residents trapped inside the camp.

Since then, over 100 people have died of starvation or hunger-related illnesses in the camp. Images of desperate residents lining up for a rare food aid delivery in January 2014 became emblematic of the Syrian conflict. ״

No israel involvmant, so who cares about the starvation palestinians\syrians.
