Just for fun I went back and looked up Brian Smith's takes from the first OTAs last year.

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...rst-texans-ota-in-stride-as-qb-battle-begins/

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...texans-full-ota-splitting-qb-reps-with-hoyer/

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...rst-texans-ota-in-stride-as-qb-battle-begins/

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...date-smith-on-texans-qbs-in-otas-hard-knocks/

Spoiler alert: he's encouraged, if not complimentary, about Mallet's performance.

Worst he does is mention some accuracy issues, but otherwise he's fluffing both guys pretty well.

Hard to trust his opinion, honestly. If Mallet was a dud last year, why the smoke screen?

Did anyone see O'Brien's facial expression and tone? After the press conference was over, he asked to say something to the beat writers off the record, and the live feed ended. Seemed pissed.

Very excited for this upcoming season...which means that the Texans will disappoint massively just like the Rockets/Astros did. :)

It's a crappy thing for a journalist to do though, isn't it?

When he had the chance to point out concerning poor play last year he glossed over it.

Now that Mallet flamed out, he's taking a dump on him like he knew it all along.

    Seems opportunistic at best.
